I'm not talking about creation either. and I do think people blindly follow science, and probably I'm one of them. I believe in evolution but if I'm being completely honest I do think there is something else. Whether god or not I don't really care, but just some unexplainable things lead me to that. I think the bible is about as real as Harry Potter

51.it's boring (no offense)

Yeah, the bible is quite a good read, but should not be taken seriously.

Same though, like evolution has been proven, what has religion got,a couple of big books?

Exactly
Its been proven that god doesnt exist aswell.

Enid 14-10-2009 02:53 PM

Evolution vs Creation.

"Creationism refers to the religious belief[1] that humanity, life, the Earth, and the universe were created in some form by a supernatural being or beings, commonly a single deity."

"In biology, evolution is change in the genetic material of a population of organisms from one generation to the next."

Now which seems more logical? To the religious, really? Do you really believe some god or deity created the earth? Don't kid yourself!

I find religion irrelevant. It's a pointless cause of arguments and debate, noone will ever know the answer [but the side most likely to find out is science ;)] and it just plays a very insignificant part in my life.

InOne 14-10-2009 02:54 PM

People have this absurd idea that religion actually deserves respect...

I don't get that either, christians blab on about how its symbolic then change their argument to say a god must have had to 'help' the big bang because one minute change and it wouldn't have happened. And then the really religious try and say dinosaurs never existed and bones were planted by god to trick us. But after they've said how its all symbolic ... they'll take parts literally. Can't have it both ways :nono:

Oh right. I am sure that i have seen it somewhere.

InOne 14-10-2009 02:59 PM

I know what you mean. Some Christians don't even believe in creation. :S

Christina 14-10-2009 03:00 PM

Fair enough.. yes we all have different arguments in this subject. Some beleive it some don't. But just a question.. if people don't beleive in religion why does everyone seem to celebrate xmas? Is that not one of the biggest events which Christians beleive in/made happen? Not saying you can't.. i just somtimes wonder why.

Enid 14-10-2009 03:01 PM

Do you think we all love xmas because it celebrates the birth of christ?

Naah. Presents!

Shaun 14-10-2009 03:02 PM

Christmas, for me, is a time to spend time with friends with family, exchange presents, gorge and watch good movies.

Couldn't give a **** about that Jesus bloke.

Let's face it, Christmas is about kids and Santa these days, not the birth of Jesus. Plus Christmas is a mix of Paganism anyway.

to be fair it isn't just christians who don't believe in creation. It is possible the world has always been here, we just can't process that thought because we're used to everything having a start. The world works in mysterious ways ...

Okay, your argument is pretty weak though. Why are you religious? Why do you believe god exists? Have you really thought about it?

Of course.

But still it was bascially made because of christianity. People have no trouble celebrating xmas.

Tom 14-10-2009 03:03 PM

Its hypocritical but I do it anyway, its just the secular culture

Yeah but the Bible is about Creation, if they can't believe everything in their own holy book, how can they even call themself a Christian at all?

I didn't say for a fact God exists. I said i BELEIVE God exists. I am entitled to a beleif no matter how 'idiotic' it may be.

What makes you believe though? Do you believe the Bible is literal?

That's because it's tradition. Jews do not celebrate xmas, btw.

But you must think he exists if you believe it to be truth? :conf:
