(Not arguing against your point, by the way, just showing how everything is basically luck of the draw). |

The big question is, which was first ? The soul or the body ? Does the body have a soul or does the soul have a body ?

Btw, I think we do all have souls, but it's separate from conscience. |
Call me a hopeless romantic if you want, but yes, I believe that we're all in possession of a soul.

And yes, you're right, where or what situation a person is born into and experiences a person has in there life could also be put down to luck of the draw! |

At the end of the day, we wont know until we are dead...
...for all we know we're in some sort of computer or we are all just the imagination of one person |
I think my idea of having a soul differs here because I don't assume that having one automatically connects us to God or Heaven or any of that stuff. My belief is that our souls are an energy or life force emanating within us that we share with every other living thing. It goes beyond the physical or the conscience..... on a different plain and connects us to whatever created us. Sounds like waffle but I believe it.

I do think that when you die, part of your soul stays on earth. I dont know what it would be, but thats just what i think.

I said I believe so above. My definition of a soul and my understanding of what other people consider as the soul are quite different, I think.
We have thoughts and feelings far more advanced than any other creature on Earth (although I have my theories about geckos... tricksy fellas that they are) and I would include those under the 'soul'. We are all individual, we are different to one another, yet we all have things in common - the fact that we think and feel, even if they differentiate enough to make us all individuals, these things are still common to humans. The soul, in my opinion, is a thing that consists of all the things we think and feel; and because people have been thinking and feeling for centuries; the soul has existed for centuries. Our souls might not exist after our deaths, but other people will continue to have souls - we learn from each other the things that make us who we are, so a little bit of our souls gets passed onto other people; even if the soul isn't a physical thing. Trippy. |
I like that Greg. It makes a lot of sense :)

Wiki - The soul, in many religions, spiritual traditions, and philosophies, is the spiritual and eternal part of a living being, commonly held to be separable in existence from the body; distinct from the physical part. It is typically thought to consist of ones consciousness and personality, and can be synonymous with the spirit, mind or self.[1] The soul is believed to live on after the person’s physical death, and some religions posit that God creates souls. In some cultures, non-human living things, and sometimes other objects (such as rivers) are said to have souls, a belief known as animism.[2]
