No!

Im really looking forward to seeing Lucie in that little sexy rock outfit we saw on Xtra Factor last night!

And I want to see the Afro at his best !
Plus isnt Bon Jovi coming?

They wouldnt just change it from Rock to somthing like Country if Bon Jovi are coming!

Rock is so much better than Big Band!
I have already pointed out my Reason for Big Band Week being ****, but theres no point in doing it again in this thread incase it gets me ****ing attacked by a few Dick heads again like in the other thread

I'd want to find an artist that can vary their style according to the song they have to perform. I couldn't handle Lucie singing ballads every week or Jamie shouting out Rock songs constantly. Sleepathon stuff.

I'm all for challenging them which is why I like the latter half of the competition where they HAVE to sing a ballad and an uptempo song but I do get very bored with some of the more narrow themes, especially when you have no interest whatsoever in the theme, e.g. last years Mariah Carey one.

Patrick 25-10-2009 10:16 PM

The 'Emergancy Meeting' Is probley just them deciding on what songs to sing,

Thats it

Well ok, single artist week is silly but there's so many ways you can approach Rock week and it will challenge quite a few of them. I'm personally looking forward to it, except for Jamie...oh I can't handle another shoutathon.

Jack_ 25-10-2009 10:24 PM

I do agree that some themes are narrow. So they should probably stick to one of these schedules each year:

60'S WEEK
70'S WEEK
80'S WEEK
90'S WEEK
NOUGHTIES WEEK
UK NUMBER 1'S
US NUMBER 1'S
Contestants Choice
Mentor's Choice/Original Week
Final [ORIGINAL WINNERS SONGS]

OR

Disco Week
Ballad Week
Big Band Week
Rock Week
Pop Week
UK Number 1's
US Number 1's
Contestant's Choice
Mentor's Choice/Original Week
Final [ORIGINAL WINNERS SONGS]

Patrick 25-10-2009 10:31 PM

Disco Week!

I love that, Diana was brilliant during Disco Week last year!

I agree that they should Sing UK Number 1s..

Dont know why Jack you said USA Number 1s..
As the show is a British show and no one would know what song it is, Dont see American Idol singing UK Number 1s..

Anyway,
Singing recent UK Songs just on the chart not neccesarly #1s < would be a great idea as Everyone would know the songs,

If you look at the songs sang this year and Last year its always the same old song recyled!

I loss count how many times that song 'Im not going [Your gona love me]' has been played this year!
They need new songs, and I think they should start by checking the charts!

Tom4784 25-10-2009 10:35 PM

Original weeks wouldn't work, the X Factor isn't about song writing. Nice idea but Simon Cowell only deals in manufactured acts.

I think Rock is a very broad category, there's a lot of stuff that's gona be passed off as it this week and there's so many sub genres and such. Compared to other themes it's a brillaint choice as it'll test their performance skills as they'll need to sell it well. We'll be seeing other sides of acts this week.

They've done US Number 1's before I think and it worked alright. I know they don't do it over on American Idol but American music is very popular over here so it works.

But I love your idea of using current chart music! A Top 40 week would be brilliant, but there wouldn't be any rules stopping them covering new releases would there?

Tom4784 25-10-2009 10:42 PM

The royalty fees would probably be high.

If they really want to challenge them they should do an 'Original Week'. They have to write their own songs with the help of someone and then perform it. Failing that, they should do that for the winner's single. Let's have them all have an individual song for the winner instead of a cover.

But I don't think anything is going to happen, it's just for publicity.

This is a singing competition, its not fame academy!!! You dont have to be a song writer to be a good singer. Thast why there are writers.
Like someone told me before, its not like actors are asked to write their own scripts, so the whole, you cant write, so youre no good, is just silly imo.

When on earth did I say this? :conf:

I said it would just challenge them. Never said it would mean they were bad if they couldn't write a song.

That's what I loved about Fame Academy.

Yeah, but the thing is, this is not what these acts are about. Its a different show! What the hell are John and Edwards gonna write about, or any of the young ones for that matter?

Fair point.

At least it would be different for one week though. Besides, if there were any talented song writers at least they would be discovered if they didn't win.

Actually, they have had a couple of best of British on American Idol. ANd they have had, US #1s on the Xfactor.
See, not everyone is keen on segraggating music. Music is a universal language. You are only hurting yourself by limiting it to a nation.

Chico was my favourite that year, and I've met him twice, he's really nice actually.

Theyve had British Invasion week season 6, Beattles week (twice), and queens week.
Go to google, I dont remember the song choices.

LemonJam 26-10-2009 12:27 AM

I don't blame an emergency meeting; when people who are 'hot' 'liKeable' generic or ajoke are getting through on a SINGING contest you know somethings wrong.

They actually had a Beatles themed week on AI 2 seasons ago as well as a British Invasion week so get your facts right.
They haven't even done that on the x factor yet.
