If you saw the audition process that is when you would notice it is an entertainment show, they pick bad singers on purpose, they pick people that look cute every year and they pick someone who is sexy every year. I saw the first hand and saw an Eoghan lookalike make it through... even though he forgot his words and couldn't sing. Wheras real talent doesnt make it through.
This show is invented to get viewers... not to launch an unknown singer into stardom, in fact... I bet half the people on the show come from agents.

Agree with some of what you say - but not all. Of course it's a tv entertainment show (it's on tv and it entertains) but the main premise of the show is based on a singing talent contest. It is a singing contest - with bling for entertainment purposes.
Look the pot of gold at the end of the show - the recording contract - is for singers - they can't give a contract to bad singers. Without that pot of gold at the end - less people would be bothered to audition - particularly the real talent - viewing figures would drop - end of show.
There is already Britain's Got Talent for other kinds of entertainment - x-factor is for singers. JEdward do not belong in this competition. Why didn't they enter the other one - because they are deluded - they think they can sing - but they can't. Louis only put them through to annoy Simon - he admitted it! Then all the teenage girls come out in their hoards with big crushes on them voting to keep them in. Louis probably guessed the teenage girls would behave like that - with his experience of boy bands - and knew he could create a headache for Simon.
The press latch onto this making a big thing of it - others jump on the bandwagon and vote for them as well - just to be controversial - and before you know it - it is no longer a singing competition (allegedly).
The press the show is getting is attracting more viewers - making even Simon happy - but that doesn't change the fact that it is a singing contest.
