I'd say I was more impulsive rather than an addictive personality, I think i'd be a full blown piss head if I did.

In your mind set, other people have different mind sets and go through different things....

Lewis. 27-11-2009 09:28 PM

Never had an experience with it. Never even thought about self harm. I'm genereally one of those people who just get on with a bad situation and hope for the best.. but then again, nothing too drasticly bad has ever happened to me in my life

It is not 'sick'. It is just how people cope sometimes. It's bad labels like that, that causes mental illness stigma.

This.

I have never self harmed, but I do understand why some people do it

Once a guy at our college had to read something out in English, then out of nowhere he proper punched himself in the face (full force) then ran out shouting, it was very ****ing scary

That's really naive saying something like that. Not being nasty to you in any way but people cope with things differently so it's wrong to label them because of it. It's an illness at the end of the day.

I hate to put it so bluntly but you are young and naive, and as such don't really have a place in this discussion.

Also, on the subject of the Real World being fully authentic ... LOL is all I have to say.

I think everyones self harmed to an extent, I don't mean slashing your wrists or burning your skin off, but things like nipping our skin when angry, biting our lip til it hurts etc are all examples, and these examples help people who go "I don't understand why someone would do it" - understand a bit more.

I was about to say no till I read your post, yepp Ive done this a few times. Key situation is when somebody is narking you off or been gossiping about ya and you bite your lip to stop you saying something to them

Good post Lauren :)

Probably not the debate for you, it can be a big thing to get your head around, and you already seem to have firm views on the matter.

Yess,, but the point is, that people should get some sort of help,, if they are that bad

It's nothing really but if I experience something embarrasing or remember something embarrasing I tend to claw at my arms a lot. It's probably not relevant.

I don't really know what to add to this topic which hasn't been said by wiser people really.

Really not the right topic to be taking so lightly and bringing those two into it.

Really don't want to be rude to you but there's plenty of other threads about things you do understand and like for you to post in.

Well if we are to go by your logic it's disgusting and sick, maybe people dont want to be seen as disgusting and sick when they ask for help....its people like you who bring a stigma over stuff like this.
