Great list. We have 4 in common. I cant believe no one has Romario. He was so amazing! Laudrup, van basten, keane, all legends as well.

King Gizzard 28-11-2009 11:05 PM

I was thinking about putting some more backs in, but this is all about your favs and the ones who put a smile on your face so I had to go for the more attacking players. Laudrup was a genius as far as I'm concerned.

James 28-11-2009 11:09 PM

Brian Laudrup
Richard Gough
Gazza
Maradona
Platini - though a bit outside the last 20 years

Not too sure about order.

Edit Zidane and Michael Laudrup also.

setanta 28-11-2009 11:10 PM

I was considering Gazza but he kinda underachieved even though he was another magical player.

Novo 28-11-2009 11:12 PM

Micheal Mols

1982 world cup had some of my favorite players:

Maradona, Platini, Rummenigge, Zico, Altobelli, Boniek, Milla, Madjer (Algeria beating Germany was the huge upset of the tourney). my favorite english player was Paul MAriner.... Great World cup finals.

bronaaaa 28-11-2009 11:14 PM

1 Ashley Cole
2 Theirry Henry

..that's it :P

setanta 28-11-2009 11:14 PM

Early 80s were great .... that's why I just did the last 20 years cuz it would be too much work to sift through all of them!

James 28-11-2009 11:17 PM

'84 Euro Championships were great. Platini and Michael Laudrup at their best.

Don't get me started on how much I love Michael Laudrup. He had everything. Puts players nowadays to shame.

Novo 28-11-2009 11:19 PM

I have that england's greatest games video from years ago

one of the games on it was England 4-2 Cameroon

Remember Roger Milla scoring in that game think it was around 1990

Definitely! Travesty, when Paolo Rossi went of on them. I remember from tapes their players like Zico, Socrates, FAlcao, Eder, Junior, Cerezo..... They played like a symphony orchestra!

I wouldn't know as much about him to be honest with you cuz I was never huge into Italian football... still watched Milan though obviously. Michael Laudrup was who I grew up with, you know? Romario and him together - beautiful stuff.

Novo 28-11-2009 11:25 PM

Yeah, from the last 20 years. The players nowadays don't float my boat as much at those lads in my list. Only ones who come close are people like Rooney when he's in the mood and Ronaldinho a few years back. Can't think of many more who can come close to the older generation of footballers.

There are a few left, like Christiano Ronaldo to be fair, JayJay Okocha when he was in top form, and I think Joe Cole got some flair as well, when he is not injured.
