Good then that the majority of it was released half a century ago.

Besides which, you are wrong.

I hope that you had your tongue firmly placed in your cheek when you uttered that last sentence. The Beatles are legends and would still be legends if their music was released today. Timeless brilliance that's too easy to slag off because they've been so popular for so long. That actually applies to Radiohead now.

Which neatly brings me on to Nickleback.

One of my friends xD

Hmm, interesting point, but I don't actually dislike the Sex Pistols. I like a lot of bands in this thread, but overrated is the name of the game, and as a band I think they are incredibly overrated. Admittedly I don't have much material to go by, which sort of reinforces my point.

I am a fan, no doubt. Just like I am a Nirvana fan. But they were overrated to **** too, I reckon.

God yeah. Hey Jude, Come Together, Yellow Submarine, Let It Be - they bear absolutely no relevance today, do they? There's absolutely noone out there right now covering that heap of ****.

And besides, if they were laughed at, it would be by uncultured *****.

Get the **** out.

She is certainly not the eggman. No sir.

For me what kills Nirvana is the girls nowdays thinking they have a 'connection' with him. They read all the books, buy all the box sets, and look down on you if you criticize their 'precious Kurt'. They seem to take personal offence, I laugh in their face and tell them they were about 1 when Nirvana were in their prime. Also, all the kiddies who wear Nirvana hoodies and can't even name 5 songs.

Enid 05-12-2009 04:03 PM

I think we can make a compromise, because I do agree with you to a degree. :)

We all know Sid couldn't play, but he was a bad ass and will always be a punk icon. \m/

They'd also rip out your throat if you ever mentioned Courtney Love in a positive light. Really petty.

I believe it's koo koo kachu :nono:.

Alrighty then, another band I am a huge fan of but are still overrated to the hilt for much of the same reasons as InOne described for Nirvana ... The Misfits.

God, and all those mad conspiracy theories lol

Captain.Remy 05-12-2009 04:06 PM

No one even dares to say Daft Punk/Justice because I will cut their head off. :D

Shaun 05-12-2009 04:07 PM

Oh totally forgot Nirvana. Definitely agree. I doubt they'd have the legacy they do if Kurt hadn't topped himself.

All these years I've been saying it wrong!?

Today's not been a good day.

Tom4784 05-12-2009 04:07 PM

Oasis for me, I find them repetitive and the only reason they were so big was because of a few good songs otherwise they were rubbish. Coldplay are about as entertaining and interesting as dipping your testicles into a deep fat fryer. There's some others I hate too but I can't think of them.

Shaun 05-12-2009 04:09 PM

*hurls piles of **** at Dean angrily*

Coldplay I can kinda sympathise with. I do love them, but they aren't the best band in the world today. But then again, neither are Muse.

YEAH I WENT THERE.

I find great satisfaction in watching that though. Heheheh. Can't say the same for Oasis or Coldplay though. Zzzzzz

setanta 05-12-2009 04:10 PM

Coldplay and Muse right now. Still thinking about bands from the past though.... The Doors are big time overrated but I fecking know that I'm forgetting one.

It was the media that put a damper on Oasis, plus the fact thet recorded their 3rd album completely off their heads, I thought Be Here Now was still really good though. It was a bit hit and miss with SOTSOG, but Heathen Chemistry, was pretty good, also Dig Out Your Soul is their best one for years.

Dig Out Your Soul was great. I do still think they are completely overrated though. Sonically they never changed much. Neither did AC/DC I suppose, but that's probably a good thing, despite the newest album being about trains from what I can gather.

Plenty of great records have been made by bands off they're heads too. See : The Magical Mystery Tour.

setanta 05-12-2009 04:14 PM

Green Day and Stereophonics are pretty pants too.

MrGaryy 05-12-2009 04:14 PM

Before I even read this thread my eyes went 'U2U2 U2U2'. Honestly they have produced some solid work, Sometimes You Can't Make On Your Own is fantastic, With or Without You is good too, but I find a lot of there earlier stuff and certainly all of their current stuff to be totally generic crap.
