SMC and I started a thread for verbally abusing/insulting people, but the admin removed it.

But yeah, this is a forum and you get the odd cunt from time to time just looking to cause trouble. Also, not everybody's going to agree and arguments are bound to happen - it's a forum at the end of the day. There has been way too many arguments than need be the last couple of days, though.

Using that sort of language on here is pretty much inciting trouble!

Why do you feel the need to use that word - your'e not supposed to on here - many people don't want that shoved in their face when they go into a thread!

I'm guessing because it's what I think of them, maybe?

You may wish to live in your cotton wool world where everything is perfect and nothing is out of place, with people being polite and not in the slightest bit rude, but I don't, and quite frankly neither do a lot of people in society today! It's a word. Four letters long. Just because some person gave it a meaning, it does not mean I'm not allowed to use it.

So how about you stop picking on me as I'm certainly not the only one to have used it on this forum, or in real life as a matter of fact, and find someone else to go and start an argument with, as that's obviously what you are looking for! Bit ironic, considering this threads content.

I'm not picking on you - you are the only one saying that disgusting word! And for the record - it is not about what you like doing - it is about abiding by the rules of the forum and not unecessarily offending other members! You are not the centre of this place mate - so get over yourself!

I don't recall there being a 'no swearing rule', when I first signed up to this site, and if you think by saying a simple, four letter word that I'm offending people, then I think you're the one that needs to get overthemselves! To say that I think I'm the centre of this place is ridiculous. When, in any of my posts, have I even hinted at that? If anything, you think you're the centre of this place, not me!

Quite frankly, if you're going to find four letter words offensive, especially when they're not even directed at you, a Big Brother forum is probably not the place for you!

lily. 23-12-2009 07:16 PM

Jack, I hate to get involved, but there is a rule about evading the swear filter. I've been warned for it SEVERAL times in the past..

Hm, thanks for the heads up, but I see many members bypassing the filter on a regular basis. Stu, in particular, and they don't seem to have been warned. I'm guessing it's a lot less stricter here than it used to be? It seems it anyway.

But again, thanks for the heads up.

Ah - are we trying to copy Stu - I wouldn't bother! You have nowhere near his sarcastic wit - FAIL! Again for the record - I think you will find that sort of language is not accepted on here - if others complain about it! If you think it is cool to use it elsewhere - who cares - but on here it is not appropriate!

Why are you resorting to petty, personal insults regarding how I post? A bit sad and pointless, if you ask me.

Besides, I'd never even attempt to try and copy Stu's content of his posts. Why should I, anyway? I'm me, and I have my own opinion. Stop thinking that just because I agree with him on somethings, that I'm trying to copy him! That's a FAIL on your part, if anything.

Well that's your opinion. In my opinion, it is appropriate, especially when used in the right situation. Until someone tells me that I'm not allowed to swear (disregarding the swear filter situation), then I'll continue to do so, it's as simple as that.

No More Arguments Please!

Stephanie 23-12-2009 07:26 PM

it's good to have arguments though sometimes, adds abit of drama and let's everyone vent out their frustration.

Stu 23-12-2009 07:26 PM

So somebody saying fuck is copying ol' Stu? Jack is right. It's just a word. Some people use it often in their linguo, some don't. Big deal.

You like a little online scrap yourself WOMBAI.

I got away with it for months, then they suddenly started cracking down on it. Red Moon is strict with it. The mods are hardly ever here lately though, so you'll probably get away with it.. Stu's been doing it for ages too.. lol

To be honest, I'd support aboloshing the filter altogether. It's been brought up before, but never happens.

And let's face it, swear words are not the greatest linguistic related threat on the forum. I may curse but damn it I type well enough I like to think.

The vast majority of the newbies who have come out of the woodwork in the past few months have not adopted to the whole English language thing with the greatest of competence.

If we are going to nitpick on peoples swearing, can we nitpick on all of them? Personally neither bother me.

It's just the internet and all that.

In which case - I think it is perfectly clear who is the one trying to cause trouble! Your use of that particular word has been increasing lately - it isn't necessary - so why should others have their faces rubbed in it! The odd slip of the tongue is one thing - but you are making a habit of it now!

I'll have to watch out then. I remember when I used to browse Red Moon always seemed strict, I'll watch out for him! :joker:

I'm with you on that one. It's a couple of letters that make up a word, and as we've already discussed, many people get around the filter and use them. Everyone on here is over 13, and as far as I'm concered, will swear in real life. So it's a bit petty to not be able to say it uncensored on the internet.
