Sorry, I wasn't aware that you could only play a hollywood role up until a certain age .

The thing is - it isn't really a role is it! It is just him being himself. Just too old to do for real any more!

Yeah, it is a role. Believe it or not he isn't a gangster with a bullet for a tooth. Or the Juggernaut. He used to be infamous for being a tough man, this landed him a role in Lock Stock, and his career as a hollywood tough man began.

Simple.

Maia 06-01-2010 06:19 PM

He is very overrated considering I haven't seen him really do much at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hate-fan of the guy, I've just yet to see what all the big fuss is about.

Until then, sign me up.

im not sure how a grown man in his mid forties washing up dishes on tv constitutes him playing the hard man, unless your talking about his movies in which case you realise he's an actor right? furthermore theres no doubt he's a jack the lad but surely thats not a crime...

Vicky. 06-01-2010 06:21 PM

He IS incredibly overrated as a housemate, he hasnt really done anything yet everyone thinks he is great.

But he is also the most famous one in there, so its understandable how he has so many fans before anyone even 'sees his personality'...so to speak.

Assaulting people is! And, yes, I know that was in his youth - but has he really changed, or is it just a case of he is too old to do that anymore - but his thought processes are basically the same. As he always plays the same roles (which is generous, at best) it makes you wonder!

He always plays the same roles because that's his niche. Vinnie is very humble in person and in interviews and will be the first to tell you he is not Jack Nicholson.

The only argument you have to fall back on now is 'well I still think his a thug because, uh ...'.

Brad. 06-01-2010 06:30 PM

Wombai you know **** all about Vinnie, so don't bother saying anything.

And what do you know then Brad! Tell me do! I'm all ears!

Stu 06-01-2010 06:34 PM

Ah the classic argument reversal. Always works when you have nothing else to say.

Vicky. 06-01-2010 06:34 PM

RRF...I was only commenting, dont want to be added to the list....

Stu 06-01-2010 06:34 PM

And that is the same old spiel you give everyone! They have no argument - because you are always right! Your judgement is law!

Twilight 06-01-2010 06:41 PM

Add me because imo he is.
But tbh the girl in your name is boring to.

You ignored my last few posts because you eventually realised that Vinnie Jones is an actor and is actually not the Juggernaut in real life, and you are ignoring Brad's point by simply flipping it on him. So of course people are going to assume you have no argument. And now your just arguing about my style of posting again. Like you always do with everyone when they raise a point you don't feel like discussing. That or you bring fallacy into it, like you are doing now by insinuating I am always right - which I am not.

In fact, I am consistently wrong on many things and often poke fun at my own hazy stupidity. Anybody will tell you that.

Yes he must be exactly like the roles he plays in movies. Just like Robert Englund must be a serial killer because that is what he always plays in the movies, or Roy Schneider spends his time hunting down bad guys because he always played a cop, or Alan Rickman being very evil to everyone because he plays those sort of characters.

It's called being typecast.

As to his age and being too old to play a tough guy, well that is normal in hollywood. Look at the likes of Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis playing action roles at their ages, or at the other end of the spectrum women like Ashley Tisdale playing 16 year olds when she's actually 24. Blame the industry for it not Vinnie.

so basically his past actions dictate his future?the idea that he grew up,showed remorse and has since gone on to bigger and better things doesnt show that he's changed?he made a few mistakes, hardly something to chastise the guy for... tbh it would probably damage his career to do so anyway..

and the idea of vinnie playing those roles are simply because he's now been type cast, you wouldnt really believe vin diesel doing a ace ventura type role would you?same goes for vinnie, tbh lets just agree to disagree because im seemingly talking to someone who knows more about vinnies though procresses than anyone else..

so lets just leave it there..

What bull! Brad said I didn't know him, intermating that he did! I have already made it clear that I know about his past, his history of assaulting people, the fact that he ended another footballer's career - not good. So I asked Brad - to put me straight then - tell me what he knows that overrides those things. Not complicated. If he knows of something - great - he can tell me and put me straight can't he. Or maybe there isn't anything specific - he just likes the alpha male tough guy types and is impressed by them.

Stephanie 06-01-2010 06:52 PM

i don't think he's overrated he just has alot of fans/people who like him because he IS very famous.

Jords 06-01-2010 06:55 PM

He is being overrated a bit, with people crowning him winner when quite frankly, he hasnt done much. But I like him, 6th favourite out the 11 :)

Dont want to be put on list though, just commenting.
