It was a c**p twist cos if anyone had refused to take the money then the posts this morning would be along the lines of "Oh, so and so thinks they're gona win cos they didn't take the 50 grand." And they'd get slagged for not taking the money cos it would show they're big headed and smug.

Good on him, from his point of view he thinks he has no chance of winning so he's just right to grab the money.
He was dishonest by saying it was to create two winners of the show. That was a lie. There is, and only ever has been, one winner of BB. He took the money because he had seriously doubts he would win, so pinched half the prize for himself. Saying that would have been honest.

I knew Eugene would take the money because a few days ago when asked by BB how his friends would best describe him he replied "self-centred".

I really think any of them would have taken it because they are all self-centred. None of them are saints!

They probably would have done the same, but we're talking about Eugene and not so much his decision to take the money but his reasoning which to me smacks of dishonesty.

When he done it i just thought exactly the same, plain selfishness.

If he thought he would win, he wouldn't have touched it but because he knows he probably is not going to get the prize fund through the normal rules.

For me this is just another stupid move by big brother, and the winner has been stolen and will be out of pocket to someone who maybe come 3rd or 4th!

It was stupid.

And how many people are 100% honest these days? As for Eugene he said at the time it was probably a bad decision and he regretted it a soon as he took it.

I also agree with Tanser_Man it was a stupid move by Big Brother to get people talking about the show in the Press.

Another thing to add is the people that make the money out of the show are Channel 4, the production and the telephone companies.

Last year there was 14,790,551 votes and assuming the same number votes this year then Channel 4, the production and the telephone companies will make £5,177,000 in calls

I dont care what any of them are saying now - if they had gone into that diary room they would have made the same decision as Eugene.

He may still lose out, because if he had said no, and gone on to win then he would have had £200,000.

He is human and how many people out there can honestly say if they were offered £50,000 they would say no. Not many.

As for Makosi saying she wouldnt have taken it - of course, just think how many new weaves she could have got with that.

And after all whoever wins BB is going to make more than £50,000 if they plan their media appearances, magazine rights etc correctly.

I wonder if Eugene had said no, and the prize money had been double would the eventual winner (if not Eugene) have given him a share of the winnings cos he doubled them and wasnt 'greedy'. Not on your life their attitude would be 'I've won its my money'.

So lets not look badly on Eugene for doing what most of the British population would have done in his place.

I think Eugene made the right decision - I would have taken the money had it been offered to me and so would most others! it wasnt a fiver we were talking about here it was £50,000 come on think of the opportunities that you have with that!

Eugene thought of himself there is no crime in that :elephant:
