i remember clubbing back in the 90s
that's when drugs were drugs, not like the s**t you get today, proper e's
dripping with sweat, still raving at 7 o clock in the morning

sorted, mad for it

Stu 22-01-2010 11:41 AM

I'm a pub and gig bloke. Can't stand clubs. I might have 20 years ago but the tripe they play now is unfathomable. I'd rather sit in a bar and knock back a few with some good convorsation rather than pay money to have a bouncer judge me to let me into a claustrophobic hall of twats who think wearing bright colours and dancing like a nutter to pop hits makes them wild and endearing.

Clubbing should be about popping, coming up, and coming back down at 7 the next morning. Rave used to mean something. You would go out and spend about fifteen quid and you would still have one of the best nights of your life. It's all too corporate now. My generation has very little in the way of a meaningful culture.

God, I hate people my age.

I went to a club last night, it was amazing. Great DJ, and just lots of anthems and classics. It was really packed and everyone was sweating and everyone was there to have a great time... it was a good night! Also the club organised a CO2 cannon... which is like a big blast of dry ice on the crowd, it was insane!

I only go once a week... sometimes even less, I don't like to over due it! I go to the pub far more than clubs.

Indeed, hardly have any good pubs left here either really. The pub culture is on it's knees. If I find the right pub I can just chill there all day, especially if there is a game on or something, always brings a good crowd. I don't really like locals but like it when you know a few people as well. But too many chain bars offering cheap cheap drinks now, and the alci's usually swarm over it and it becomes a dump. It's quite a sad thing seeing people que up at 9 am to get their first drink.

Stu 22-01-2010 12:54 PM

Hang the DJ.

Niamh. 22-01-2010 12:58 PM

I'm 31 but was never really into clubs even when I was younger. Much prefer a late bar to have a drink and a chat.

Then back home to drink all day and get stoned hehe...I think I'd die if I tried that now

Shaun 22-01-2010 01:00 PM

I first went aged 17, and found it brilliant. But I now only go like once or twice a month, if that. I just find it boring...we used to go out every week, and it doesn't take long to realise you're dancing to the same ****, vomiting and waking up feeling the same ennui.

However much you try to dress it up with fancy dress nights, or whatever, it's still the same. I much prefer house parties and sleepovers, and such stuff.

Pubs are boring. Out of pubs, clubs and bars I think bars are by far the best of the 3 atm

Depends where you go, thats why Manchester is so big for nightlife because its quite rare you'll find 2 clubs that are the same.

Most near me are old fashioned, full of old men and stink of piss

I don't like clubbing much. It costs too much money and I barely even drink! I'd much rather go to a pub or whatever.

If you are with the right people pubs are great, me and my friends go in the pub about 3 times a week just for a chat and a catch up.
