Where I used to work, my boss was great. She was both loved and feared. She didn't take any sh!t, knew what she wanted and expected it to be done, but she was also fun and great to talk to. Everybody respected her.

But if you are a boss you need to be feared by your workers, and not be a pushover. Becuase if a worker keeps making mistakes, you need to punish them, not shower them with gifts and more money.

There is a big difference between being a pushover and being loved. If a worker keeps making mistakes you would find out if there is a reason for the mistakes, and deal with appropriately, doesnt mean firing them, it could mean retraining, or moving them to a less complex job etc.

Its better to be hated for being yourself rather than being loved for acting and faking to be someone else.

Im lucky that actually all the people i have ever met like me. I have never had a problem with no one, so being myself worked out positively for me.

Loved by girls.
Feared by the boys.

Being feared would be awful, I'd much rather be loved.
