He has done some good stuff but the thing is ... he is incredibly inconsistent. Consistency is greatness.

He's sold 800,000+ of his latest album in the UK alone. The door is that way... >

yeah, look at Olly Murs, perfect example. Will Young also clearly takes inspiration from him.

he is taller than you think

He's like 6ft.

And I didn't know he wrote any of his songs?? I thought Guy Chambers did all that and he fired him and along came Rudebox....

Definitely the fat guy from TT - never could stand the arrogant little ****e!

Princess 14-02-2010 07:59 PM

Robbie is soooooooo not better than Take That! If it wasn't for TT he wouldn't even be here. He barely writes anything,he doesn't play any insturments(does he?) or dance much. I never even thought he was that great a singer. I don't like him or his songs,I wouldn't say his songs are rubbish but they're not INCREDIBLE. Right now Take That are better.800,000? Try 1 million in less than 3 weeks.Knebworth? Try 1.2 million people in 20 days.

InOne 14-02-2010 08:08 PM

He does not really fit the iconic singer, and an up and down career. I think he has to do more.

Do you think he deserves it at this time in his career?

Arneldo 14-02-2010 09:51 PM

Robbie has a great voice, admittedly not the best voice ever, and he is an all-round entertainer. 7 of his 8 solo albums have gone to number 1, and 1 went in at number 2. He has sold more albums than any other solo singer in UK chat history. He has the record for highest number of concert tickets sold in one day - 1.6 million. He was voted greatest act of the 1990's. He has won 15 BRIT awards, which is 7 more than Annie Lennox - who has the 2nd highest amount of awards.

Weather you personally like his music or not - he does deserve this award.

Stu 14-02-2010 10:08 PM

LOL @ People continuing to quote figures.

The topic title asks what has Robbie contributed to music. If the high points of his career were penned by Guy Chambers, then it's Guy Chambers who has contrinuted to the industry.

What has Robbie contributed save for an average voice and a smattering of mental breakdowns?
