She can still prove that ^ she has every right to sue them, she came up with the name and the way she was FORCED out of the band was stupid. If she had left herself, then I think it'd be stupid to sue them but she was forced out so I don't blame her.

Sugababes is completely different.

Sugababes doesn't belong to Keisha, therefore she has no right to sue them.

It's still a valid example though (I'm defending Patrick, WHAT BLUE HELL HAVE I STUMBLED INTO?!).

the issue is about the name which she came up with, and the group is basically hers as she founded it with Mutya.

I think Sugababes 4.0 suits them.

I don't care who came up with the name, IMO, the name is passed on with each re-invention. This is by far the best line-up, and although there's no original members, I don't think it really matters. Heidi has been in the band longer than Siobhan + Mutya have, what a blow to her. If the company decided to wipe out the members and replace them with 3 new ones, I'd understand but it was a gradual process, each new member being recruited and earning their right to the name, which I believe all three girls have done.

This just shows how bitter and vile Keisha is. She bullied Siobhan, she bullied Heidi, Heidi & Amelle even wanted to quit the band because of her, and this resulted in her eventual departure. It's karma. She got booted out as a result of her own actions, and there's clearly no dignity there whatsoever.

Even though she's not a part of the Sugababes anymore, she's still causing them drama.

This!!

The name does.

Fair enough really. The name 'Sugababes' used to mean something good - until Mutya left anyway.

Braden 28-02-2010 06:15 PM

The sue could amount to millions of pounds !?

This.

She has every right oo. She was forced out of a group that she formed, a group that she was part of for over 10 years.

Callum 28-02-2010 06:27 PM

I can see why she's doing it and I have no objection over it neither. When I think of the Sugababes I always picture them with Keisha in, now that she's not they don't seem like the Sugababes. None of them are original members.

Beastie 28-02-2010 06:31 PM

They could change their name to.. the sugapussies.

MarkWaldorf 28-02-2010 07:11 PM

She actually doesn't have rights to the band just because she made up the name. That's like saying Cheryl owns Girls Aloud because she made up the name. (she didn't, i'm just trying to make an example of it) The only people with rights to the band are the record labels and management.

Joss Whedon created the name 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer', but because a small company had rights in the 90's they're now making a movie with the same name and Joss Whedon will not be involved.

If another label formed a girl group with the name 'Sugababes', it'd probably be an offence.

I don't know why anyone is defending that BINT.

She's a bully and a bint.

Big ****ing bint.

If this was any other profession - a situation where an employee responsible for a brand's success is just ousted from the company unfairly and behind his/her back - there would be a lawsuit. It's just desserts on the management, really.

MrGaryy 28-02-2010 07:53 PM

well she's just totally ruined her chances of solo success by making her seem completely unlikable and bitter. total bitch.

Hmm..
I've just been doing some digging around online.
It seems that when the band was initially formed between Mutya + Siobhan, the management company branded them 'Sugababies'. Keisha joined later after a recording studio session and the name was later edited to 'Sugababes'.
Keisha claimed in 2006 that 'Sugababy' was her nickname as a teen and that's where the name came from but this is apparently false.

Tom 28-02-2010 08:01 PM

I think Heidi is very much a Sugababe, they wouldn't have had their success if it wasn't for her
