What's wrong with "don't like it, ignore it". Seems a bit silly to me, bit like OFCOM.

You need to take a step back and accept that not everyone will share your view of things (this goes for everyone) - you might find it ridiculous that some people "care about some posts on a forum that much" but you yourself care that the forum is becoming "strict." Maybe it seems silly to you, it doesn't seem silly to others, c'est la vie.

Smithy 28-02-2010 10:46 PM

Jack maybe you should just drop it, its you vs like 5 mods

Jessica. 28-02-2010 10:47 PM

I think thebeasts comments should have been deleted instead of the thread being closed!

Patrick 28-02-2010 10:50 PM

I thought this site was strict but then went to another forum for a day 'Walford Web' jesus I felt like I was in the army.
You have to have EVERY SINGLE post approved by a mod.
Your not allowed SIGs until you post 15 times.

Its crazy and strict compared to here.

But if something is reported and we feel people could take offense, the thread can be closed/infractions given

Hmm, I guess that's fair enough then.

I never said everyone is going to agree with me, again, that's the idea of the thread. To see who agrees and who doesn't.

Anyway, I know nothing is going to change and infact, if anything, it'll probably get worse. All I'm saying is that it just seems, at least from my time on here, that it's gone from people being able to get away from quite a lot, to hardly anything, and that threads are being closed left, right and centre, ending valuable discussions, something which people have been complaining there has been a lack of recently. That's all. I just think it's driving people away from this place.

Patrick 28-02-2010 10:50 PM

Oh and Jack, im 4 Clicks away from Hayley

Oh I'm not saying this forum is strict compared to many others, I'm just saying that I think it's stricter than it used to be on here.

Oh right, yeah definiatly its became really strict like your afraid to say somthing incase its took the wrong way.

Jack_ 28-02-2010 10:54 PM

I'm trying to think of comparisons, the only one I can think of from the past was Harry's first graphics shop. Plenty of 'bullying' like behaviour went on in that thread, and no posts were deleted, even though numerous posts from mods were made, and it took 28 pages before the thread was eventually closed.

That's unheard of now.

Yeah, that's how I feel, and it shouldn't be like that on a forum.

Even posting this thread is the same. I'll probably get an infraction or something.

James 28-02-2010 10:57 PM

Strict? This forum isn't strict. Some of these 'jokes' have a very negative effect for this forum. It is not always seen because people stay quiet about it but it puts them off the forum.

Jords 28-02-2010 10:57 PM

I find TiBB to be fairly lenient actually, and as it is a family forum and anybody can view it, it must be kept well moderated. But tbf, the crazyness tonight, although somethings were funny, it was hell not appropriate and things need to be deleted/shut therefore.

What was so bad about tonight?

I just kept my head down on Hayley so I missed it all.

Kerry 28-02-2010 10:59 PM

This forums one of the most lenient I know of and is very fair (IMO). Some things go too far and for whatever reason I think people are actively trying to push the boundries this past week. It's been like a battle of 'who can get banned first'

Jack_ 28-02-2010 11:00 PM

I can understand Steph's ban, as much as it was funny. Just other things confuse me.

But James, that Tsunami thread wasn't a joke. It was a real discussion. No matter whether people disagree or not.

During Big Brother, we have lots and lots of members posting threads about housemates sex tapes etc, and they aren't deleted. That's sort of the comparison I'm trying to make. Big Brother is an adult show, with adult content, and so adult discussion is going to take place on a forum about it.

Blue waffle lmao, and just crude poems etc. Yeah soemthings can be funny but some people will take offence by it, and if not take offence by it, dont want to see that type of stuff. I think things just get taken too far at times, Frizl jokes for example but maybe Im too goody 2 shoes. :p

It's difficult to moderate during BB because of the increased activity, things slip through the net and stay around longer because there's more things to attend to, but if they get posted in off season, obviously they are deleted/locked far quicker.

Jack_ 28-02-2010 11:04 PM

I can't understand how anybody would be offended by a sexual joke or post though, really. Do these people get offended when they're having sex? Because that's basically what it is, just in text form.

Wildcat! 28-02-2010 11:04 PM

This forum isnt strict at all! Are you kidding me? the type of idiotic craap people get away with over here is unbelievable! And yeah all these threads closed were inappropriate, regardless of your personal point.

And since you think people shouldnt care that much about posts on a forum, why do you care at all things are being closed, if it doesnt involve you?

Kerry 28-02-2010 11:05 PM

The only thing that bothers me are pics. I couldn't give a poop what people talk about and the only reason pics bother me is cos I view this board at any time of the day and my child may be stood beind me. I don't really want to explain why theres pics of knobs on my screen

LOL at what Steph did, but again, I understand why she got banned - I could see it coming a mile off!

That Tsunami thread suggesting people were disappointed that a big natural disaster didnt happen is quite outragous really, and thats the reason why it got banned.

If BB was an adult show though, we shouldnt be watching it, right? And it would be on after 9pm.
