Your rather beleaguered view of how one would bring up a child in a Christian household needs to be filled out with some reality. |

I never once said wait until a child is old enoough to bring one up. That makes absoloutely no sense. I was merely talking about one specific part of a childs upbringing - religious belief. Whatever. The church needs it's faithful I suppose. And kids are easy. |

Shame your shooting blanks.

I agree with Stu on this, I won't bring my kids up to be anything but open minded, if they want to choose religion or not it'd be upto them but I'll be supportive either way. Don't christians believe that God gave us free will in order to chose whether or not to follow him?

and where would they go anyway when you went to church? lol |

Brainwashing is a method for systematically changing attitudes or altering beliefs. It's certainly a term I would apply to raising your child a Christian forcefully. |

you are wrong I like my short version to your self-congratulatory long one. mines is punchy. |
I'm being called self congratulatory by TiBB's own self appointed voice of reason? Stick to the subject like a good man. Many parents force religion on to their children. This is a fact and it is not to be denied.

I'm not saying all parents do this. Can you prove that you have experienced 100% of all modern art and poetry to be able to say that 99% of it is crap? No, and nobody would expect you to be able to prove it. Now grow ^. |

You can still see the same happening every sunday morning, kids sitting fidgetting in pews waiting to get out of church and back to being a kid. PS. do you still consider rock and roll as the devils music? |
I think it moved on to rap music somewhere around 1998.

I believe in god, I am pretty religious. But I will always raise my kids. without any religious influences. My parents, were very much like that. They nevr forced me into believing anything. They always tried to just inform me of whats out there.
I think you have to let a person, just be. |

And not raising them in any religion, means, I will let them choose who they want to be. I have complete faith in my beliefs. As I am sure, anyone in the same situation. If my kids are gonna believe the same thigs I believe in, they will do so, because of their brain, and their reasoning. Not because they were forced to. There is nothing worse than that I think for a human being. In this day and age, everything is scrutinized, and questioned. So your kids, should be prepared, and open minded. But faith, for those who have it, governs all. |

There is also a difference that education of one sort or another is compulsory in the UK. |
