I for it, I have a donination card, and if anything happens to me, -touch wood-, and I die and my organs are useable I would want my organ doninated to save someone elses life.

Enid 10-03-2010 11:28 AM

I would prefer my body to be neat and in tact when I'm dead. I don't want to be chopped up, period.

Shasown 10-03-2010 02:25 PM

Why not just reverse the current system and simply state that all organs may be used for transplants in the event of them being suitable. Then allow people to sign out of automatic donation if they wish.

That way "the cant be arsed either way" brigade have tacitly given their consent, and those who feel its not for them can sign out and keep intact any organs that the pathologist doing the post mortem doesnt slash, shred, dice, slice or sample.

that's a very good suggestion actually Shasown

Shasown 10-03-2010 02:46 PM

Well it should mean there would be more viable organs available for transplant. Plus it may even placate all those control freaks in the government who want to own us body and soul.

And anarchists everywhere could have a legitimate excuse for alcohol abuse etc.

See everones happy. A win-win situation.

Dr.Gonzo 10-03-2010 03:04 PM

Really good idea, Shasown.

Stacey. 10-03-2010 03:12 PM

no, i wouldnt do it.

Harry! 10-03-2010 03:38 PM

why though? you're organs are just going to rot away when they could have saved a life.

But really I would want to be buired whole and not dismantled. Not put to pieces.

Fair enough, that's your choice but like you're dead and you're whole body is going to rot away anyway. It's like recycling donating your organs!

Yup, thats a brilliant idea.

Captain.Remy 10-03-2010 04:52 PM

It's a big no and it's out of question. My body is my body, that's how my parents made me, that's what I've been living with. I'm sorry but I'm not Mother Theresa, bad luck for people who need them. That sounds cruel but there you go.

Stu 10-03-2010 05:01 PM

I wish some of the no people could expand on their responses a little more. 'My body is pure' and 'I want to be burried whole' are just blank statements on there own.

Why do you need your organs when your in the ground? Your going to rot anyway. Who cares how much of you is there to rot? I mean ... really?

What if you needed an urgent transplant that was not available due to a general consensus that 'I wanna be burried the way I were born lolz'. I wonder would your standpoint change then?

It's childish. Organ donation should be automatic, and you should be able to opt out of this manually if you wish.

If you needed an organ, would you take it?

daft question really though...but its a damn good thing that not everyone thinks like this.

I respect everyone's decision, I'm not going all judgemental about what is good or not. If the person agreed to give its organ so why not. But I don't agree to give away mines.

Stu 10-03-2010 05:10 PM

You would really take someone elses organs and not feel the need to return the favour?

It may sound crazy but no. I sound very illogical here and I hate that because I am a logical person and whatever I do, there is a reason behind it. But for this one, it's much more complicated, it's a question of culture and faith (probably) and a question of integrity. The thought of people thinking I'm half-empty scares me. I know I sound right cruel, selfish and mean but I can't help it. I don't even think I'd be comfortable having an organ in my body that isn't mine.

Princess 10-03-2010 06:39 PM

I don't understand people not wanting to save several people's lifes is all. You could be saving someone's husband, wife, mum, dad, child.
