On what grounds?

They're imaginative, they're interesting, they're well-written and they're pretty much the only series that have kept today's generation with an interest in reading (the only other example (though a bad one) I can think of is the Twilight series).

The best thing about the books are that, to rape a cliche, they are an entire universe like, man.

Sounds like a pitch for having a GCSE course in Harry Potter. If re-elected the Labour Government may introduce a fast-track degree course in Harry Potter

Sounds like a counter-argument with no coherence. If you reply you may be equally dismissive without any basis.

Kerry 02-04-2010 10:17 PM

Not read them all but so far The Prisoner of Azkaban

Currently reading Order of the Pheonix but I'm hit and miss with HP books and tend to put them down and leave for weeks

Jayson 02-04-2010 10:17 PM

Deathly Hallows is a great book. Chose that.

Wow...I at least expected a reply that at least argued with what I just said...this justs states a useless fact and your opinion, anyway, get out of the thread, this is a thread about What peoples favourite HP book is, its not a thread about Farenheit 451 or any other book

Farhenheit 451 was a reference to literature rather than Harry Potter books - spin me a spell and I'll disappear dearest. Are you hankering after that PHd in Harry Potter which the captains of industry are craving for?

Kerry 02-04-2010 10:26 PM

The HP films are on TV every Saturday at the moment. I need to read the book quick before I see it on TV!! Trust it to be like a doorstop

Nobody cares, this is a thread about Harry Potter books, nothing else, stop going off topic please :)

Kerry 02-04-2010 10:29 PM

I like how the books 'mature' as Harry does

You are a lobbyist for the publishing company aren't you - what did the Department of Education think of your pitch for the Harry Potter GCSE?

Agreed. I've read it loads of times now it never seems to bore me! It's also quite emotional aswell and no other book has done that to me!! I love them all but that ones my overall fave!

What is your point exactly? The thread's about Harry Potter. You don't like it. **** off and don't post then.

Christina 02-04-2010 10:57 PM

How has a simple thread about Harry Potter turned into a debate?? :conf2:

Shhhhhh or the mods will move the thrread to Serious Debates about whether the Government should introduce Harry Potter into the national curriculum and institute a School of Excellence in Harry Potter studies for the gifted.

Define trolling.........strogly believing that kids shoudn't be brought-up on a diet of Harry Potter pulp fiction rubbish = trolling?

Scarlett. 03-04-2010 01:10 AM

My least favourite HP would have to be Philosiphers Stone, it was a good book, but it was the most child friendly book out of them all and wasnt as full on as the rest

Good story I found but as you say, very 'young'. As I said earlier though it's why I like how the books grow and mature with Harry and the others. The first is an easy read for one sitting. The next a little more gripping and so on and so on....

Scarlett. 03-04-2010 01:30 AM

Yeah, I understand that, I still think it's a great book, but its the one I like least :D

Kerry 03-04-2010 01:35 AM

I keep feeling like starting them from scratch again as I read them in such sporadic bursts first time around. I'll see how I go with the one I'm reading at the moment. I'd love to read them all simply as I love books and they seem to be such a 'must read' :)

People cry and moan when kids are out having sex, doing drugs, fighting and that yet when we want to watch and get into Harry Potter books and that, its wrong?
