Over the winter I was walking down a normally pretty well lit street, however it was dim because of the cloudy dark sky and there wasn't anyone about (usually the street is pretty busy), except for these four or five guys, I think they were a couple of years younger than me, but they were all taller and wearing hoodies.

I was seriously creeped out but decided to take out my mobile phone and pretend I was texting someone. As I went by them they were laughing, I felt it was kinda menacing.

Well I was soo relieved getting passed them and heading to more a populated junction where I'd be almost home, however I heard one of them running behind me. As he got closer, it took all my strength to put one foot in front of the other. I was even too scared to run (I know that sounds a bit dumb), it was like my legs didn't have the energy.

My heart pounded, the rapid footfalls got nearer and nearer. As he was right behind me I closed my eyes. I figured he was going to grab me or hit me. He just ran past and darted into a house. Well I felt panicked for the rest of the evening and night.

Anyhoo this is like two minutes from where I live, thankfully there is another street I can take to get to the shops.

i would just walk past them normally, it's no big deal. not everyone wearing a hoodie is going to stab you.

Maybe I should have added I was wearing a hoody too :bigsmile:

I don't think it is about whether they are wearing hoodies or not - it is the fact there are 3 blokes hanging around a dark alley - particularly for women! It would be foolhardy for any woman to walk down there - and also potentially dangerous for a guy on his own!

If they were just chilling and listening to music for example, I would carry on walking, if they had their hoods up, hands in their pockets [could whip something out at me], smoking, Id turn the other way.

why? not all guys are rapists or murderers ffs. they could just be standing there chilling :bored:

I think if I was in that case. I'd pull out my phone and pretend I'm chatting to someone on it.

Not sure if it'd work. But if I die. Oh well. lol

That's what I would do. But actually talk to someone, if something happens then the person on the other end would know.

Stupid comment - of course not all blokes are going to attack you! But you don't know what sort of blokes they are do you! It is just common sense to be careful! If you don't want to protect yourself - don't - just don't go crying if the worst happens!
