I am hoping for electoral reform to be pushed through, by any means necessary. I have no problem with Clegg co-operating with the Labour party and don't think it will make him a hypocrite (he is a hypocrite anyway) so long as it means the Tories don't have carte blanche in creating legislation... which may make the referendum I'm hoping for impossible. |

1. My vote being rendered null and void when it comes to deciding the ruling party or even the main opposition. 2. Having no opportunity to vote for an independent candidate when I still have misgivings about the policies of all three main parties. 3. The electorate being consigned to tactical voting as a means to an end as opposed to voting for the party which actually represents their ideology. Don't get me wrong, I recognise the weaknesses of PR and not every MP will an accurate representation of the the interests of their constituents, but at a national level, it the more democratic system. Plus, anyone can draw comparisons to other countries with different political systems. What about the US and the failure the electoral college system which gave Bush an extremely dubious victory in 2000? I just think PR would work for the UK and believe a referendum would show that I am not the only one. |

Lib/Lab/other progressive parties joined together...Libs and Cons are quite removed idealogicaly for it to work unless the Tories are going to do some major bending over

Lol, that ludicrously oversimplified view of left and right on the poster made me think how much of a stereotypical boring conservative my dad is.

Lib/Lab definantly but unfortunately I think Clegg is edging towards Cameron :'(
|
If it takes an overall majority of 326 seats to govern, then a Lab/Lib coalition won't wash, since together they will have only 315 seats. A Con/Lib coalition will give an overall majority of 363 seats which will provide an effective government.
Therefore if a Lab/Lib coalition is still only a minority government, then Cameron has more right to govern as such already. END OF. |
