Mind we like Scotland, its great for deer stalking and peasant (sic) shooting

Now yer just talking Sh1e - can we cede Newcastle in exchange for Dumfies & Galloway then? Get rid of the Tories and get more socialists

arista 22-05-2010 03:59 PM

David And Alex are getting on Well.
David ,unlike that UnElected New Labour PM,
went up to see Alex right away.

The Conservative-LibDem Party
are a Revolution.

We have consistently voted socialist - even voted Scottish Labour to try keep the Tories out. Scotland has one Conservative MP who we'd gladly gift away to Engerland. Tories came 4th in the popular vote, Scotland has minority sociialist parliament.

It all seems untenable as we have nothing to do with England thought-wise about what we want

It's a UK parliament though and different parts of the country vote for different parties. London has a majority of Labour MPs but is still subject to Conservative (and Lib Dem) rule.

Maybe a more interesting question is why Scottish MPs can vote on legislation that only affects England, and has no impact on Scotland because of devolution.

That's called the Linlithgow question first raised by Tam Dayell (unionist labour MP where now we have an SNP Council).

I'd quite happily solve the Linlithgow question - let us separate. Labour's big play in Scotland was "Vote Labour to keep Tory rule out". 4 of 5 in Scotland still voted socialist of one party or another - England voted Tory. Seems incongrueous to have you rule us.

Unlike parts of London vs say Essex, we have a distict national identity (1st question they ask you in Politics I is what is the difference between a nation and a state). Ask yer London pals if they feel English. Ask Scots if they feel dienfanchised with Pinky & Perky @ No.10

No mate thats called democracy.

Speaking of which simply coz you and some other Scots dont want to be part of the United Kingdom but think you would be better off on your own, why should that be applied to all Scots, if the whole of Scotland was so anti Britain wouldnt we have majority SNP rule in the Scottish Parliament and also more SNP MPs sitting in Westminster.

Hello from real world - James mentioned it above - it's called 'the Lintithgow question' and I gave my solution to it. Any more Lib/Dems just got elected in lalaland?

That is cryptic - does the republic of Lalaland have a tory government with 19 representatives from Scotland?

Talking sh1te? Moi? really?

Sorry mate, would like to read this article

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle5120287.ece

I could post a lot more on the subject but the one will suffice I think. Mind you could do some work yourself and look up the recent history of Forvik Island (Papa Stour) or you could have a look at the Shetlink site (http://www.shetlink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=147271 that post in particular)

Then come back and amend your post. Maybe you could even post some credible evidence supporting a claim that Scotland as a nation wants to be Independant.

It would appear that ignorance of whats going on in Scotland isnt just rife south of the border.

Thanks pal - I DID enjoy the 19 Lib/Dems and "1 or 2 Labour" - makes sense to me now why Scotland is so pro-Pinky n Perky pact.

You taught me - foolish Ian, I thought Scottish Labour sent 41 and that's essentially why a hung parliament

I had foolishly remembered Alex Salmond leads a minority Scottish Parliament supported by Scottish Labour who belivee in the socialist policies - your pal Alex says we have no support in Scotland

I foolishly believed many Scottish Councils have turned SNP in sickness that New Labour was a bit Tony (Tory)

Foo;lish Scottish - take our votes away

The only socialist party winning seats in Scotland is the SNP (6 to be exact). Labour ceased being a socialist party when leader John Smith died in 1994. You do have your own parliament which is entirely made up of Scots, so what are you complaining about? Have you not noticed it? It's in Holyrood, you know that place that cost millions of (English) tax payers money to refurbish. It just goes to show how little you know about politics, doesn't it?

Obviously you're a Celt, you hate the English and you want to be shot of us. Fair enough. The problem is, and as I said in another thread, England does not chain the Scots to be a part of the UK. You Scots have the option to get independence at every general election, but only a minority seem to want it. I wonder why.

As mentioned above - Scottish Labour is different from your English version called New Labour to appease the middle England who were a bit unsure about getting rid of the Tories in '97

If you wish to count socialists, count 6 plus 41 Scottish Labour MPs which essentially hung your Parliament. Take them out and you have your right wing public school Tory Govt. No need to fall in bed with the Lib/Dem leader who was at public school with David. (The word 'fag' from English public school thing certainly comes to mind)

At every general election we vote Scottish Labour to try to keep the Tories out of a UK Parliament. At national level we have a minority SNP govt. because we know they're socialists under the guise of SNP. At local level SNP cannot go forwards as local people vote for socialist Scottish Labour.......but SNP socialists have taken a few significant areas even over socialist Scottish Labour.

I do know a bit about politics kiddo as my 1st degree from EDI was in politics/social policy. I'm currently working for a large Scottish local authority and regularly chat with the other officials @ Hollyrood. Tell me your credentials to be able to talk utter bollox.

PS Andy - we regard Engerland as being England/Wales - same laws, same voting patterns - so I wish my socialist country to be free from England/Wales as you'd then have to call it on the geography books/maps. Maybe just call it Engerland for ease and forget the Welsh attachment.

PPS - Hollyrood was not refurbished - was built from new by Tony at a cost of millions over-budget, designed by a Spanish Architect who fortunately is dead as got open wallet by Westwinster or he's still be making adjustments! Tone's way of appeasing the 41 Scottish Labour MPs who helped put him in power in '97 by giving us limited powers.
