It would make sense to have the finale on Saturday really.

It'd coincide with the BGT Final [though I haven't looked at schedules for that yet], and so it'd all fit together.

True, lets hope they go with that

OK but a Gun
on this sad day with 12 or more dead
would be wrong.

Spike 02-06-2010 05:42 PM

If ITV do show it on Saturday then the last 30mins of BGT will go out after 10pm and people under 16 (I think) can't be on TV after that time. So ITV would either have to get special permission to do that or pre-record the last 30mins of BGT, which sounds like too much trouble for ITV. The sensible thing would have been to do 2 episodes of Emmerdale tonight and then 2 episodes of Corrie tomorrow.

I suppose, its just annoying that they announced they were pulling it 3 hours before its on

Jack_ 02-06-2010 05:43 PM

Just looked at Saturday schedules and it's as follows:

18:00 - 18:30: You've Been Framed
18:30 - 19:30: The Whole 19 Yards
19:30 - 22:00: Britain's Got Talent: The Final
22:00 - 23:00: Batman Begins

Very surprised at how the BGT Final is all in one show. It's quite a tight schedule and I can't really see them scrapping any of that.

They could push Batman Begins back to 22:30 and have Corrie on after BGT, but I think it'd make more sense (if possible) for them to split BGT up and have it like this:

18:00 - 18:30: You've Been Framed
18:30 - 19:30: The Whole 19 Yards
19:30 - 21:30: Britain's Got Talent: The Final [Part 1]
21:30 - 22:00: Coronation Street
22:00 - 22:30: Britain's Got Talent: The Final [Part 2]

Though again in saying that, I think there are restrictions with forbid the minors on BGT from appearing any later than 22:00. ITV are ****ed.

Yes but the News was not in Full until after 5PM
So they have this right.

Sky and FreesatHD Shows the changes
But Virgin does not it - still says its on
as virgin EPG is not up to it.

Jack_ 02-06-2010 05:48 PM

Actually, it appears the YBF episode is a repeat, so they could scrap that, push The Whole 19 Yards back to 18:00 - 19:00 and have Corrie on from 19:00 - 19:30. But does the content during the episode permit it to be shown before the watershed?

Scarlett. 02-06-2010 05:48 PM

they could pull YBF

Stu 02-06-2010 05:51 PM

What a riddiculous decision. Plenty of action movies are on the movie channels tonight, as are plenty of other broadcasts involving people shooting other people.

I don't understand this specific concept of 'insensitive'. Insensitive would be showing up to the victims funerals with a watergun full of piss. Airing a show that happens to feature a loose gunman is not insensitive. It's coincidence.

I can't even wrap my head around it. I mean ... how could it offend someone? It's make believe?

ITV know what they are doing, and they are smart for doing it. They know it wont offend either, but some schmucks with nothing better to do would be dying to give ofcom a call, causing trouble for both the show and the network.

Princess 02-06-2010 05:52 PM

It's good of ITV but I think people can tell the difference between fiction and reality. Shootings happen in America all the time, the Grey's Anatomy finale
Spoiler:

had a crazy gunman raiding the hospital and killing and shooting loads of people,it never would have got pulled

Well said, especially about action movies

Plus the families of those dead wont give a **** about Coronation Street, I doubt they'd all be sat around, watching it, it's being pulled because some media twats would complain and bombard ITV with abuse

Shaun 02-06-2010 06:00 PM

-is only offended by its bad acting -

Scarlett. 02-06-2010 06:00 PM

It has been suggested that Corrie may air at 9pm and 10pm on Friday

Firewire 02-06-2010 06:26 PM

Just heard about this, it's a shame that it's been cancelled, but it's in respect to the shootings.

In light of the tragic events in Cumbria, some changes have been made to Corrie scheduling.

The planned episode of Coronation Street will not be broadcast on Wednesday, 2 June.

We will update you with revised episode dates and times in due course.
The official statement paints a better picture, it sounds like they are just cancelling it today, and the rest will just be moved around a bit

Smithy 02-06-2010 06:37 PM

They should carry on as normal now and blow the factory up mid BGT final.

Scarlett. 02-06-2010 06:40 PM

That would be for the best, what they should do, is pull YBF on Sat, therefore moving BGT back half an hour, add a half hour break in BGT and put Corrie there

YBF is only padding for Saturday schedules

Smithy 02-06-2010 06:44 PM

Exactly, hopefully ITV will see sense and do that.

Chewy you email them and threaten them to do it :p

Scarlett. 02-06-2010 06:48 PM

lol nah, I think we MIGHT get an announcement before Harry Hill, it'd make sense

Smithy 02-06-2010 06:50 PM

Hmm, I hope so. But it better be the one I want.

But that means no new trailer tonight :(

Scarlett. 02-06-2010 06:51 PM

Indeed :/

serensilver 02-06-2010 06:58 PM

I can understand why they've cancelled it tonight but are the family and friends of the victims really going to be watching corrie after the sadness of today? they may watch it tomorrow and still aint gonna forget are they!? whenever they air it people will think about it.

R.I.P all that died today xxxxx

Smithy 02-06-2010 07:00 PM

I think if theres another mass shooting across cumbria tomorrow I will cry :(

Callum 02-06-2010 07:23 PM

Wow just heard about this, was shocked to not see Corrie in the 9pm slot but I understand now. Best thing to do.
