It's not exactly a 'personal' site. Anyone could link it.

Where does boundary lie between having a moan to your mates about someone and trying to manipulate them? I don't think Ben is necessary manipulative – I think he enjoys a bit of a moan sometimes, but then who doesn't? If he IS trying to be manipulative, he ought to give it up because he not very good at it

Oh - and what gave you the idea everyone hates him? he's getting on pretty well with most of the house

Jessica. 23-06-2010 04:01 PM

I think Ben is a great character in the house, he is very witty and intelligent. :)

Just a few of the recent threads I have posted in not mentioning Sunshine, there are very many others both recent and older.

Not really, most of the house are suspicious of him. The only one who agrees with all he says is Mario, and that's because he is infatuated.

LOL naw - it's hardly an achievement to scrape throu the worst group in the Cup

And hatred coz I still think Halfass is a total waste of air

JustSkipIt 23-06-2010 04:14 PM

No disrespect, but you DO talk about Sunshine a lot

Besides, quoting just six out of over 500 posts isn't exactly strengthening you point, if you get my drift.

While Ben is very tactile, he also gives people a lot of psychological space in conversations. That is a very personable and warming combination, and quite rare for somebody with such a sharp and discerning mind. He reminds me of Siavash and my friend Kate Noble in this respect.

People who interact like Ben tend to make certain kinds of friendships. As you're giving people space to be themselves, you can develop a very wide variety of friendships with different people. And feeling like somebody is interested in you for your own sake and vibe is very warming, so friends will tend to feel particularly 'close' to you. You may end up with a lot of friends, even without being a 'group person'. Your friendships will be a collection of 1-1 connections, which is a great way to be sociable and individual at the same time.

And you can still 'hold court' and be individually entertaining too sometimes; Siavash certainly does. Being able to make friends this way is just another arrow in your quiver. It can even be easier to be creative and entertaining when you're bouncing off somebody else.

While in the house, I'd use my analyses of my fellow housemates so inspire me as to how to behave and develop as a person. This is a game that can evidently be played at home too. I'd like to be more like Ben in this respect, and he's inspired me to experiment with a similar approach. I'm 'dominating the conversation' a bit less these days, and have been getting some very positive responses so far.

Are there any of this year's housemates that *you* would like to become more (or less) similar to? If so, do comment :-)

Ben is a great housemate and I imagine a nice person ,I hate the way people are condeming him sometimes just because of his accent, they are so shallow,I think Ben is going through the same kind of thing that you did last year,I have mentioned it a few times, people do not seem to like anyone who has done well or speaks properly,I wonder why that is?I would be happy to be as patient and calm as Ben,he is lovely and is my winner as you were last year, hey I live not far from you,I went to The Grove at Market Drayton for a few years.anyway bliddy good choice of housemate.:xyxwave:

They're suspicious of each other - and disagreeing with someone is a far cry from hating them

lol, do you really think I'm about to go through 100s of threads (quite a few done in BB10, or the last Celeb edition) and show that the name Sunshine hasn't been mentioned just to please you? I have other things to do, but perhaps you would like to do it?

I just think Sunshine is the best HM of this series so far by a long way.

I've been fascinated by Ben as well since the moment he opened his mouth. I don't believe that he and the things he says are malicious, but I can understand they can be perceived as being such. I think he is a genuine guy who honestly tries to understand people in a deeper level. Perhaps in other people's eyes he analyses too much, but I personally don't think so. I also analyse people and myself a lot, and a lot of this analysis is just statements with no actual value, but the listener often puts the value and the emotion into these statements. This then causes misunderstandings.

I'm glad that there are people like Ben in the house.

starry 23-06-2010 04:25 PM

He has his place in the house but people just let him get away with what he says just because he has some intelligence and is articulate and can be funny. Reminds me of Derek from BB6 who I also didn't like.

Given up on the flooding with the same post again?

Is the estate car short of petrol there Halfass?

Chels 23-06-2010 05:09 PM

Alright Freds. If it's actually you then just thought I'd say you were my favourite last year and I thought you were robbed of a place in the final. Genuine guy and I think the Bus Stop Bitches just wanted to pick on the posh boy as they were all on the dole - jealousy is a terrible thing. Glad you're enjoying BB11, who's your favourites this year then?

Simone. 23-06-2010 05:18 PM

I actually love Ben.
I think he's lovely & I felt dead sorry for him yesterday when he genuinely thought Shabby was being nice to him and giving him all these compliments.

ButterflyGirl 23-06-2010 05:20 PM

Hi Freddie :)

BJ 23-06-2010 05:20 PM

Hi Freddie :xyxwave:

I enjoyed reading you post and agree with what you say about Ben. I do feel he's a little out of his depth with most of this lot, however. I'm sure within his own group of friends, outside the outside, he is very comfortable and a main player but inside the house I fear he won't be given the chance to shine.

He seems very confident when he's talking about things he know lots about and is always willing to listen to the other point of view. Unfortunately I think lots of the HMs have already decided they don't want to get to know him and won't take time to have a meaningful conversation with him. He does often appears a little socially niave which is a shame because he's certainly one of the good guys. He's my fav, anyway.LOL

Hope you stick around

Bigbrofan25 23-06-2010 05:30 PM

Freddie was way better than Ben Full stop atleast he wasn`t dull
