Is that Japanese Hip Hop? I'd never heard that before.

The man himself is French, but the samples are from old, beaten up vinyls he picked up while on a trip to Vietnam. I decided to buy the album, because I wanted to get into more turntable music similar to the late, lamented J. Dilla.

It's debatable whether this is hip hop, but I like it anyway. Saw this guy live once.

IK only recently found out Guru was dead. It didnt really make the news over here.

Not normally a big gangster rap fan, but that's really quite good.

This is about as old school as I've gone (Kurtis Blow aside, who I never really got into).

Gang Starr are all right. Check some of their stuff out cuz its not as hardcore as most stuff. And, with DJ Premier behind the desk the beats are always great.

I remember them doing this live on the Word. The three of them were on three podiums and throughout the performance they kept jumping from podium to podium. It sounds naff but it was actually really cool.

People criticise the Word but forget they had some great musical performances..
