That is what I did. |
Right, my first 10 guests would be; (subject to change)
1. Stephen Fry Because he's insanely clever and witty 2. Daniel Day Lewis I have so much admiration for him.. One of the best actors (if not the best) of our generation. I get shivers watching him 3. Daniel Craig Because he's hot 4. Caleb Followill Because he's hot and would hopefully sing after a few vinos 5. Rowan Atkinson Because he's funny 6. Cleopatra Because I would like to talk to her. She fascinates me Erm, I've forgotten the other 4  I compiled this list in my head whilst doing the ironing today and now can't remember it!! I'll come back with the remaining 4 |
Only saw this thread now. Will have to put my thinking cap on at come up with a few good ones tonight.
Ok, my first dinner guest would have to be Napoleon Bonaparte. Fascinating character and I'd love to ask him if he really did die on St Helena - a part of me feels he may have suceeded in escaping, plus sure even if he didn't he'd have a tale or two to tell.
Second would be Michael Collins. I would love to meet the young man who inspired such loyal devotion in men even twice his age, plus it would be interesting to hear his views on how Ireland has developed over the last 90 years.
Maria Callas (soprano and actress)... my star guest
Stewart Lee (stand-up comedian) Armando Iannucci (comedian) Diamanda Galas (avant-garde musician) Kim Gordon (rock musician) Anita Berber (exotic dancer and shock artist) Friedrich Neitzsche (pessimistic philosopher) Desmond Tutu (ex-cleric and Nobel Prize winner) William Blake (poet and painter) Stephen Fry (jack of all trades) ----------------------- Sorry Bono, I know you'd love to be there, but you're too annoying. |
Whitey Bulger
Henry Hill Truman Capote Marylin Monroe Mickey Spillane Al Capone Frank Sinatra JFK Mickey Featherstone William Burroughs |
Third... Richard Pryor. His face alone makes me laugh and there's such tragedy in his life too. Would be really interesting to see him close up.
4th Peter Ustinov/Orson Welles. Still haven't decided which one to take!
5th. Think I'd like to meet Joan of Arc. I mean it would be an interesting and possibly quite weird conversation.
6th. Ingrid Bergman. I don't really need to explain it, do I? The girl could melt anyones heart with one look. Beautiful woman.
7th Johnny Vegas. I find the man naturally funny, and who better to get us all drinking and going mad?
Running out of spots. Should have actually thought of this one instead of winging it.
I'm actually tempted to substitute Welles for Desmond Tutu. Maria Callas and Stephen Fry aren't going anywhere though.
Think I'm going to have to change some myself. People are flooding into my head now.
I want to put one philosopher in but who do you pick? An artist too but there's so many, but most of them were lunatics so probably best not to have them at a party!
1) Stephen Fry - because he's probably my greatest inspiration.
2) Oscar Wilde - to please Stephen. 3) David Bowie - oh as if you need to ask. 4) John Lennon - his political views were often silly, and of course he'd have to be sans Yoko, but he's still a magnificent artist. 5) my best friend Ash - just so I wouldn't feel TOO awkward and confused. 6) Grace Kelly - mostly shallow reasons, but she just embodies class. 7) Vivienne Westwood - from interviews she seems incredibly intelligent and a slight oddball. But she's a sweetheart. 8) Joanna Lumley - for the lols. 9) Brandon Flowers - for entirely aesthetic reasons. I've got enough important figures :p and 10) Helen Keller - for the conversation. oh i'm awful. 10) Margaret Thatcher - albeit not as the old mess she is now. Iron Lady Thatcher. Because I'm genuinely in awe of her. |
8. Bob Marley. Need some smooth tunes to calm the natives, particularly Napoleon if he's gabbing on a bit and pi%%ing Bergman and Collins off. Oh, and I can play bass. Happy days.
