Interesting point. It certainly makes sense, although he doesn't seem to bothered about the housemates knowing of his fortune.

If it is true and he has had bad experiences with gold diggers then I hope it works out for him with Josie. Saying that, I bet Josie can't believe her double luck now.

Firstly, how vulgar of people to ask him about it, and secondly, how vulgar of him to talk about it. If he's so rich, why was he working in a surf shop? Actually, who cares? All the money in the world couldn't buy him a decent personality and a balanced mind.

I do see your point and agree with it, but my guess is that most people only dream of this wealth and in many cases never come across someone with such wealth.

I think the general interest is in how much and where did he get it from. Whether that's rude or not, I don't think they realise this.

I'd be very insulted if you asked me how much money I have, but I know you wouldn't do that because you're polite and well-mannered (even though we disagree sometimes!). Not that I want to imply I'm vastly wealthy or anything... Some people seem to be overawed by the thought that someone else might have some money! Firstly, I'm not sure I believe the story, and secondly, it still wouldn't change my mind about him if it was true.

Incidentally... I'm STILL trying to swap you bloomin' avatar off my screen! :-)

Overhearing the chat, Josie was keen to learn more. "Are you a millionaire?" she asked the Australian. "I thought you just had £100,000! How can you be a millionaire? There's no way you could be a millionaire, you haven't done anything."

He queried: "Millionaire in what? Assets? Or cash?" explaining that in terms of assets he is indeed a millionaire.

"My ex was a millionaire, then," said Josie. "You don't seem really, really wealthy anyway. Apart from all your nice clothes. But I just thought you were an idiot with money."

She still didn't appear to believe him, however. "But... you're just comfortable, aren't you?" she probed. "Yes," he replied. "But I don't work, do I? I've been to London three times. My car was £87,000. Work it out."

"Have I just hit the jackpot?" laughed the 25-year-old, who began fishing for more information. "Why is it important?" asked John James.

"Because I want to know. You ask me things about myself," she replied, as he tried to change the subject by asking what day it is.

"When I was saying buy me a scooter and a car, I was only joking, mind," Josie told him. "I know," he replied, as she added: "Then again, if you want to..."

Putting the topic to rest once and for all, he asked: "Why am I wearing a **** dress?" before making a move to get out of bed.
