A kangaroo is an animal it is not a race, the same as a poppadom is a food stuff and not a race either

With all the revolting terms he uses - I don't see how he can object to something so benign!! Better than being a 'whinging pom!' -Pot - kettle!

How do you work that one out - Australian is a nationality, not a race!

I see alot of you guys and the housemates mention the fact he's Australian to insult him.

It happened to Noirin and Caoimhe too with them being Irish and now it's with John, quite pathetic how alot of you act like that for example:

'I hate that Aussie ***** get him out'

It makes it sound like because he's Aussie he should leave.

'I hate that Irish ***** Noirin uggh'

So because she's Irish she's a *****?

And Dave:
'I'm going to teach that Aussie a thing or two about how to be a good boy'

Sounds like he's highlighting the fact he's Australian to put him down.

You make a somewhat valid point, BUT i think you're being a little precious, a bit overly PC. Because what happens if "differences" are forbidden to be talked of...you end up in a scenario like in BB for example, where everyone would be unable to even mention someone is Australian or Irish, in further fear of the PC police!

Careful, I received an infraction point for using that highlighted word on here!! :joker:

And no I'm Australian too & do not find the term "Skippy" in any way shape or form to be offensive...

Is there a difference in jest comments? Would Dave think John would feel bad about being Australian?

Zippy 13-08-2010 12:41 PM

Ive called him every vile name I can think of. Skippy is very tame.

The OP needs to take their cringey PC crap and shove it. Ta.

Kaaarenn! 13-08-2010 12:48 PM

I don't think it's seen as racist. It's just an Austrailan term that probably most Austrailans use, it's just John isn't one of them

John sees it as derogatory. Its a way of describing an Australian. Do you think its fair to racially offend John using that term?

LOL! So what?! I could be personally offended by many things, doesn't make the things being said offensive does it?? It's John James problem...

cub 13-08-2010 01:03 PM

It's a bit daft. Would the English be offended to be called a Paddington?

Yes!

Since when do people get to pick their own insults? Kinda defeats the point!

Anway, its more of an insult to kangaroos!
