Neither do you feel compelled to start these 'omg, Dave done a bad murder' threads. ;)

Ever seen a fox up close? They stink, most have mange and they crawling with ticks and fleas.

vesavius 17-08-2010 01:02 PM

I eat meat and so I would be willing to hunt and clean my own, or I feel that I would be a hypocrite.

Hunting isnt morally wrong, and tbh it is actually more 'right' then buying clean plastic packaged meat off the supermarket.

At least the hunter is taking responsibility for the food he is eating.

And I say this, as most people are aware, as being pretty anti-Dave and his shady little cult.

Goog point PP - and I think this thread title is inflamatory, so support that implied sentiment

I'm with you there I live up a lane in a field with 4 other houses and we all prefer to preserve our wildlife and not kill anything and everything that moves.

well done they obviously dont affect your life then! all the farms around me either the farmer goes out and shoots the vermin or he invites anybody that is interested to come and help keep his land clear of vermin. its an essential part of country life.
i take it you have never seen a lamb with its intestines pulled out through its arse?

Hunting foxes and rabbits IS conservation. Rabbit population increases faster than the prdator population can keep up and there aren't many species that will predate rabbits in the first place as they are an introduced species, albeit a long time ago.

Foxes are an apex predator with an abundance of food. If not controlled the population would explode, prey species would be wiped out, UK wildlife would be massively affected and then foxes would eventually die out.

The only thing keeping the balance is people controlling the population not decimating it.

LMAO... wellies, yeah sometimes. There's a lot of mud where I live. Barbour? Nah, they have a strange smell. Range Roger? NOOOO!! I have a highly inappropriate and impratical car for living in the country.

I might live out in the sticks but I'm a Londoner, definitely.

I'm sure to a lot of people it is and I am well aware of the many acts that farmers have to abide by telling them to clear their land of what are termed as vermin. Personally I am against it all I don't eat meat and I don't kill anything - that's just me I'm afraid and people who hunt these animals for fun and sport make me feel ill. I know it happens but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it. I'm sure if all wildlife was left alone a natural balance would prevail without man jumping in to do his act of god bit.

Another vegan, then?

You should have a look what foxes do to lambs, chickens, geese and other livestock. They don't just take them as food, some they just kill because they can. Their numbers need to be controlled, the most humane way to do it is by shooting them.

If they're doing Laurent Perrier in your local Sainsbury's at 2 for 99p, buy ALL they've got, I'll sell it on, we'll clean up!

OT, but I had chance to do similar thing - buy-up a batch of 50 bottles of 1971 Port Ellen Malt Whisky for £80 each, last time I looked (a year ago) I could sell for £900 each to Us/Japan.........trouble is, I'd probably have drunk they by now, so just as well  Best I stay away from alcohol investments!

LOL.So do Gorillas.
If that's the reason your mate Dave is shooting them ...then it's not really Christian is it??

Unfortunately, it wouldn't. Agriculture (of any sort) is reliant on creating a false equilibrium, this means that even the staunchest vegan is invloved to some dgree in pest control as the crops they consume could not exist without it. I understand that this involvement is implicit but it still exists.

Then there is also the pest control that seeks to encourage indigenous wildlife by controlling introduced species such as rabbit, mink, grey squirrel, carp, rainbow trout etc.

I was replying to the 'cute' issue. They are far from cute, not that cute animals are more worthy than ugly animals.

Claymores 17-08-2010 01:50 PM

PP you've accepted this in decent humour - I'd have been banned by now if that was my mate getting "murderer" threads. You know I like and dislike yer pal sometimes, but fair play over the series to you. Cheers, Ian
