Six years on, how does it feel to be going back in?
It’s time to get it on really, I’ve come full circle, it’s a mixture of excitement and anticipation and I want to just get it going. I’m up for a laugh, I’m not taking myself too seriously but I’m doing it to roll the dice and see where the chips fall. I’m not there to have some symbiotic relationship with someone who I think is popular.
What made you decide to go back in?
Give the people what they want that’s what I always say! Who am I to turn them down, six years is a long time. I’m a lot older, a lot more grown up but fundamentally I still stand for the same things. If that means I get booed so be it.
Are we still going to see the Slick Man in action?
More ‘The Man’, than the ‘Slick Man’, but I can only be who I am at the end of the day. I want a lot more entertainment, a lot more fun and laughs. Maybe not so much of the darker aspects this time because it’s coming to the end and it’s a celebration. My year was more of a battle than any of the others.
Why do you think you were chosen by Big Brother for Ultimate?
I’m not afraid to make a fool of myself, and I’m up for all sorts of nonsense. I’m more intelligent than most of the people in there anyway. Out of all the hundreds of housemates there were there’s no one else who can do what I do and offer what I bring to the table. If you’re in there with monkeys you’re going to have monkey talk innit. I’ll get in there, assess the situation and decide the appropriate course of action.
So you have a game plan?
I always have a little bit of a plan. I’m not going to turn up for something like this half arsed. I’m not spoiling for a fight. What will irritate me is watching them attach themselves to this year’s winner Josie trying to ride off the back of her popularity. I’ve seen Ulrika do it. Brian Dowling is constantly playing obscenely inaccurate compliments to her. Josie was a worthy winner but she’s not Miss World for crying out loud. Would Josie have won Big Brother 1? No. Would Josie have won Big Brother 2? Definitely not. Not BB 3 either, wouldn’t have lasted two minutes in my one.
If I leave it to fate all the sycophants who love this show will pick Brian or Josie for their popularity. I’m not going to kiss someone’s arse who’s strolled to a title. I give her respect for winning, but it’s a different ball game now.
Who do you think you’ll get on with?
Nasty Nick he seems like a cool guy, I’ve known Nick for a while he’s an intelligent guy. I’m up for getting to know everybody and seeing what they’re really about. Some pretty interesting stuff might happen; if not then I’ll just have to make it happen myself.
Any of the ladies in the house caught your eye?
No. On the female front, from the huge pool of females that could have been chosen Big Brother wasn’t selecting from the pool of best looking. I’m not going in there looking for love otherwise I’ll find myself sorely disappointed by the selection available.
Anyone you think you won’t get on with?
I’ve learnt to meet people and take them at face value. There are loads of people in there who aren’t my cup of tea. What the hell are me and Nikki Graeme going to ever have a conversation about? If you take the tantrums away was there anything remotely interesting about Nikki? No.
How do you think it’ll be different in the house this time round for you?
There are a lot of egos in there. Brian Dowling for me is one of the most talented housemates ever but I’m not fooled by him. He came over super smug in his VT and I think he honestly believes he’s just going to stroll to the title. I want a little bit more unpredictability within the housemates; I wanna mix it up and have everybody go from scratch. Brian won 10 years ago for crying out loud. 10 years ago I was a svelte midfielder running up and down the football pitch. Lets see what he’s made of now before we make him favourite to win.
Do you think you can win it?
The most formidable contestant in there is Nadia. Brian’s series was a cake walk in comparison. Could Brian have survived the psychological torture of BB5? I’m not sure. Say what you want, Nadia rose to the occasion and won. I’ve got respect for the mental fortitude that was displayed.
If you were to roll me into any of the Big Brothers since my won I could have won those. I seriously underestimated Nadia but I’m not looking forward to seeing her.
I didn’t come here to be an also-ran, I don’t do well as an extra, if I come to do something I come to get right in the thick of it and that’s what will rub people up the wrong way.
