Very good! Best Saturday night rating since BB9 (not including CBB).

People allways say that a saturday show is just a replay of the eviction but its not lol. The eviction only takes up about 5 minutes of the show and the rest is completly new footage.

When my Dad watched BB he was very fickle and refused to watch repeated bits like the launch night (which did actually take up a lot of the next ep until this year), eviction ngiths and even the old Saturday night live tasks. I think there's just something irritating about these viewers that dip in and out of it that hate watching the same clips.

Yep it looks good im confident the ratings will ensure a series next summer whether it be on c5 or whether it is on c4 and they are just playing brinksmanship with endemol to get it on the cheap.

daniel-lewis-1985 29-08-2010 02:25 PM

Didnt realise how bad bb10's ratings were. Here is every saturday night official rating from that series :o

week1: 2.5m
week 2: 1.8m
week 3: 1.7m
week 4: 1.7m
week 5: 1.8m
week 6: 1.7m
week 7: 2.0m
week 8: 1.9m
week 9: 2.1m
week 10: 1.8m
week 11: 2.1m
week 12: 2.0m
week 13: 1.8m

Mac Hiavellian 29-08-2010 02:30 PM

Not that surprised about BB10's tbh but was expecting BB11 to be just a bit better than it was after CBB7 did marginally better

DigitalSid 29-08-2010 02:30 PM

But yeah, it's a very decent rating for a Saturday these days, it was never going to get over 3 million plus last night.

It's stoopid.

They have a panel of about 5000 who are meant to represent 60m people, its daft. I think the ratings are 2 or 3 times more than what these figures suggest, most other shows included.

Its a load of crap, its just guesswork

Im just bummed out that Fridays 2nd eviction show got 2.5 million i think thats why i am kind of worrying about the ratings for the next 2 weeks.

When officials come in i honestly think we may hit the 3. million mark

Don't worry over the ratings, they're probably wrong anyway and its not as though C4 are going to axe it or anything. If C5 want it they already know and crap figures based on a 2 week series wont change that.

11,000.

And they're carefully picked to represent the national demographics.

Eviction interviews haven't (regularly) bought in figures to write home about for years now, Big Brother is no longer must see television, if the eviction isn't an interesting one, people aren't going to stay in and stay tuned for it, it's a Friday night.

They put too many bloody celebs in!

We only saw Ulrika and Coolio a short while ago and didnt need their return this quick. John McC we see all the time still anyways. Preston is nothing without Chantelle.

Thats still an extremely small sample no matter how good a cross section it is. Its roughly 1 person representing 6000 people in the country. Thats hardly representative.

Jords 29-08-2010 02:51 PM

Gutted, definitely deserves more attention, its been great!

Agreed, no one's interested in seeing most of the CBB housemates again, that's not what they're tuning in for, CBB is just a nice little distraction between series. Besides if people want to see Ulrika again they can turn on Shooting Stars, if someone one wants to see John again they can turn on C4 Racing.

Ha!

BB11 is owning this.

4000 and the margin of error is +/- 3%.

Not in the ratings it isn't..

DigitalSid 29-08-2010 03:00 PM

And though it's not living up to expectations (despite them being pretty damn low) I'm still enjoying it more than the awful BB11 personally.

Desert.Rat 29-08-2010 03:01 PM

Excellent rating for Saturday. This years Celebrity Big Brother and so far Ultimate Big Brother are showing is that there is mileage left in the Big Brother format, but the regular Big Brother figures prove that the standard series is well and truly dead.

If Channel 5 take it, I think last nights figure is proof that if they shake the series up enough and it isn't just a carbon copy of what is currently on Channel 4, it will deliver for them and not just bank a predictable 2m each night.

I think the best thing for Channel 5 to do will be to air Celebrity Big Brother in January for 4 weeks and air Celebrity Hijack in the summer at around 6 weeks and 1 celebrity per week. The main series is just dead and beyond repair unless they radically overhaul the entire format, in which case its a risk.

So they think. Theres no way of proving it or disproving it unless they survey most people in the country. I think some shows seem a little low considering it seems like everyone watches them like X Factor which statistically only 17-20% of the country watch.
