It's just one of those words that whites used to insult blacks back in those days, therefore the word just seems to have a "negative" meaning with it. The word might not be as strong as the word n*****, but it falls along those same offensive lines.

When people see photos of how restrooms, water fountains, etc.. were seperated into "whites" & "coloured", and the coloured one looked like a piece of sh*t, people associate that negative image with the word "coloured".

and not long ago somewhere in America some parents refused to let their white children swim in a pool again because "colored " children swam in that pool whilst on a school trip :(

:( sniff aniff :( like i've said many times before. People that haven't experienced racism or prejudice before can't possibly understand how some people can spot signs of racism or prejudice. there are a lot of people like these 3 in the North especially. :(

Yeah I see your point however I wasnt just referring to Black as in Afro-American or African, there are a variety of other racial types (that could be described as non white which I personally find a very derogatory term) whose hair could fit someones description of pubic hair.

That still happens even now and not only in the US. Racism is rife all over the world, it will be for the foreseeable future unfortunately

It doesn't suppose that all people have curly pubic hair at all, regardless if it looks like everybody's pubes, it still looks like a pube.

I disagree. The implication is that it looks like a pubic hair (all of which Ulrika supposes are curly) because it was curly.

If it was a straight hair she would not suppose it looks like a pubic hair. Its the curl that she identifies as 'what pubic hair does'.
It is ethnocentric because (to Ulrika's mind) people have straight hair except for pubic hair.

Its offensive to Asian and Native Americans and those of us who do not have curly public hair!
What's next from her? Telling people Chinese women have 'sideways vaginas'??

ScabbyMoreLike 01-09-2010 08:34 AM

I think Ulrika got confused. What she probably meant to say was that Makosi herself is like a pube. You know, you think you've got rid of them, then you get in the shower and there they are! And let's face it, Makosi IS always in the shower!

As for the pub thing, apparently if you go drinking in Makosi the decor is nice but it's a bit noisy, the conversation tends to be limited and the drinks themselves have a slight flavour of seafood...
