I think yur being compltely rediculous. Overpopulation? there are plenty of green pastures in england that could easily be bulldozed flat and have some nice big council flats built on them.

Stop being silly and alarmist.

I know it's the Mail and everything but still, it isnt a ridiculous claim at all.

And no I dont think our rural land should be completely bulldozed over and urbanised. We should be preserving our countryside, not destroying it.

Well I suppose while we're on the subject of dubious sources of information, the UK doesn't even figure into the top 50 countries in the world for population density if this article is anything to go by.

I'm not going to defend them on this. The trouble is the French like to try and shaft the UK when it comes to the EU and immigration. Many economic migrants and refugees travel from France because they failed to obtain a VISA or work permit there, even though France is far more equpped, economically and in terms of area to take on immigration than the UK.

France is a very self-serving, xenophobic country when it comes to its relationship to the EU. (apologies to Remy who is pretty cool for a French person)

Yeah, but the article in the Mail was just referring to England, it's possible that Scotland and Wales could have brought the UK's overall figure down as I believe they a lot less densely populated. Plus, the majority of the countries in that top 50 are non-European while I was just referring to countries in Europe

There's also an article in the Telegraph from a couple of years back saying the same thing as the Mail - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...in-Europe.html

I wouldn't say xenophobic because we are the country of Human Rights. My dad immigrated from Russia in the 70's, my mum from Italy in the 60's and it all went fine, they're very thankful to the country because it gave them a job and food which they couldn't have in their country.

Now, I think the situation got out of hand and was too rushed. I belong to Sarkozy's party, I do, but I think it all went mad. Now that he's standing against the EU, it's about to take the whole case to another level.

I might be exaggerating but I tend to compare this with South African people back in the old days when they had a divide between Whites and Blacks. That's what France is now down to. It doesn't feel right, but at the time, a few things had to be done to resolve the immigrants issue. But not that way.

I think the situation could be improved if there was more dialogue on the issue between France and the UK. Maybe more could be done at home, I don't really know, but I think the UK is a victim of circumstances on this one. People here generally vote for more right-wing parties in the local EU elections as Labour and the Lib Dems in particular have a reputation for being inassertive with Europe.

There has been some degree of overreaction lately to the repatriation of travelling communities back to their native country of Romania (for all the anger it has sparked, I don't see it as a form of ethnic cleansing as these people are not legally French citizens and were not born in France). Nevertheless, it indicates France is taking far harsher measures than Britain, when it should really be other way around.

What do you mean by your comparison to the SA apartheid by the way? Is France extremely segregated?

On that France24 report a french charity
worker takes them meals but never says Leave France
later a Afghani tells of the €2,000 price to get them onto
or under a UK Bound Lorry.
