Well if thats true then I rest my case.

Cher will be a big success and youve just basically implied as much!

She must think shes the only person with access to youtube

She should've just gone on Stars in their Eyes, other people doing the same thing but for more well known people get told to be more original

That's actually pretty pathetic to be honest with you. She's basically wearing the same clothes. Mad.

Lucy. 19-10-2010 09:49 PM

It wouldn't even matter that she wasn't original if she had a good voice/ wrote her own raps. But because she claims to be writing them then that makes covers a big sham!

You have no case to rest. You've flipped flopped around saying nothings original.

She'll make money but all of them will off the back of the show. She has no talent, she has no originality and will have no future in the business. I think my case is the one to be rested. She's merely an outlet to boost King Simons bank account and all the fake praise is completely unwarranted.

setanta 19-10-2010 10:01 PM

I was just thinking though, are any of the X Factor producers or staff aware that she's ripping off other artists?

The artists she copies from don't live in a vacuum. They too have their influences who they steal from.

Artists copy artists copy artists.

Sometimes its blatant, sometimes its subtle. But influence and immitation is and always has been a part of the advancement of music.

And often the people that inspired certain artists are too obscure for people to know about. So they get the credit.

Cher clearly knows her stuff and is genuinely immersed in a certain genre of music. And thats where she wants to be. At the moment she may well be following her influences but given the chance she will give it her own spin.

And you are all talking about her. Result.

I've never heard of any aspiring rap artists ripping off another person's lyrics to that extent. It's theft, that's all, and after seeing those clips she's shown nothing that makes me think she's up to the challenge of representing that particular genre of music. Nothing original about her at all.

Although I agree with the first part, there is not a chance in hell that the bit on bold is true. If she was immersed in hip hop then she'd have her own rhymes and wouldn't need to copy other peoples. There are millions of rappers her age trying to get noticed. Not relying on a fake talent contest to make their name. She's a fake in that respect. If she had respect for her genre she'd be less blatant with her copying and would at least try to flow her own rhymes..

Having said that she may open the flood gates. Look out next year for a bunch of boys and girls who cant really rap or sing but are relying on the judges ignorance of hip hop in order to make their name. Cher may set a precedent unfortunately it wont be a good precedent.

There's no may about it unfortunately. Although it might make the auditions part even funnier!

Tom 19-10-2010 10:28 PM

I can't wait for disco week or ballads week

Although with disco week they'll probably bend the theme again and have her doing MC Hammer, Fresh Prince, Jump Around or something like that

I will make audition funny for sure. I can imagine the chavs getting up there trying to rap. Unfortunately the judges dont know enough to work out who's good and who aint.:spin:

I wonder if they'll have Big Band week this year? Somehow I doubt it.

Exactly. The prosecution would like to enter Cher Lloyd as exhibit A.

LMAO

I'd love to see her do Jump around.

Zippy 19-10-2010 10:47 PM

They will all struggle with certain theme weeks. Big nelly deal.

Mary will always just be her usual parked caravan self whatever it is. Oh very original and exciting!

At least she can sing.

Tom 19-10-2010 10:50 PM

You need at least 1 person in a singing competition who can actually sing. Mary is that person this year, the rest either can't sing or screech

I don't see how anyone can knock Mary now after the two performances she's given. They've been fantastic.

Just managed to watch this. That is ridiculous. There's influencing then there's copying. Another nail in Chers coffin.

See, even my rhymes are better than hers. :spin:

Part freakshow, part MOR marketing.

I don't think her story is a measure of anything other than the power of youtube and global sensationalism.

She's a dull, batty old catwoman with a pleasnt but one dimensional voice. And Mary's a dull checkout woman with a big booming one dimensional voice.

But she aint got Susans publicity so it'll be back to checkout 13 for her.

That all depends on whether Mr Cowell can see any money in Mary. At the end of the day its up to him as to how well they all do.

Z 19-10-2010 11:32 PM

Cher is a gimmick. Dainty little girl doing rap music; how novel. She's in the same boat as Wagner or Diva Fever or any of the other gimmicky acts, she relies entirely on her gimmick to get her through the live shows. Cher's a rubbish singer and hasn't got a creative bone in her body, just a keen sense for copying others. I mean the audition, she even does the "Woissup" that Keri Hilson does in that performance, she's literally copied her to the finest detail. It's ridiculous that Simon Cowell and co are heaping praise on her for being original when she is nothing of the sort. She's a gimp.

GiRTh 19-10-2010 11:49 PM

Well said Zee.

Just been listening to Boy in da Corner and noticed that Dizzee name checks Roll deep all thru the album. It fairly logical as he used to be a member. If Cher was serious about hip hop then surely she'd be a part of a crew/collective like Roll deep. We haven't heard anything about that so I have to conclude that she IS NOT which bring me to further conclude that this girl winging it. Winging it for sure, for real. And she's fooling so many people. Its all a bit sad really.
