I'm no fan of Westlife at all [infact I find them terribly dull], but I have to admit I genuinely think their new track is one of their best ever. Very catchy.

Lets see if JLS are still here and as succesful as Westlife in 12 years time, somehow I doubt they will be

And coming from somebody who has written many a hateful and spiteful post yourself you really need to be quiet with your sanctimonious, righteous crap. No surprise whatsoever that youre a Westlife fan. For all your hip hop pretences... phoney. |

To starts threads pointing out that an artists single has flopped seems pointless to me but you seem to enjoy it so more power to you. You dont point out an artist failure. You gloat about it. Theres a big difference. Zip, I used to think you were taking the p*ss. Making up warped views just to wind people up, but now after the gloating Nadine thread last week, I think you're deadly serious. You do actually believe the stuff you post. That makes me very very nervous. |
Not a flop far from it, considering they went out against 2 other boybands it's fine, album will do well.
|
I don't think it is a flop.
JLS are doing well for themselves, something I didn't think would happen from their performances on The X Factor. I think every single they've released has got to number one or at least in the top 10. Good to see Black Eyed Peas there too. Will have to try and download their song and have a listen as I like their music. Zippy, how would you react if someone started a thread a thread like this, but with Cheryl? Just food for thought. I do think Westlife are boring, though, but they're a big boy band and I particularly like one of their recent songs. |

I start one thread pointing out a flop and suddenly all the Westlife fans come scurrying out the closet to protest! Hilarious. And it certainly is a flop so there. Barely scraping in the top 10... http://i56.tinypic.com/enadu.jpg maybe they should go back to cover versions after all. |
Shame :( Their new single is great.
|
people just aren't interested in vocal groups anymore. they should think about gimmicks other than sitting on a stool and getting up when the song gets louder.

With JLS bouncing around the stage Westlife suddenly look old and tired. Well actually they did in the first place; 4 Ronan Keatings...all born middle aged. |

Therefor in Westlifes case chart positions of singles are not really that big a deal. Its all about the album. |
Westlife have only sold 36,000 copies of their album so far according to midweeks. TT still number 1 on album charts.

Like I said, a single is still an indicator of popularity and this one has done much worse than their others. And its the first track too so it should be right up there. But its flopped and no surprise to me their album is now selling well below their usual. Im tempted to start another flop thread but I dont want to overgloat. |
Their star is (thankfully) fading. They'd have flopped long before this if it wasn't for the X Factor.
|
Their shelf life expired a few years ago, they've just been kept afloat by annual appearances on the X Factor to remind people they still exist, I think I'm right in saying they took a break for a year and this is their comeback - worst thing they could have done was to take a break, I think this is probably the end of Westlife, go out on a relative high. They've been around for a long time, credit is due for their longevity when you consider the idea of the band should really have only lasted a couple of years. I feel bad for them, but I've never been a fan of their music so I can't say I care too much ultimately.
