Bioshock is very repetetive on multiple playthroughs. Fallout, to me, is a clunky, dreary Oblivion with piss poor shooting and a very, very boring first few hours. GTA IV, once you get over the wow factor, is about as much fun as drilling holes through your neck. Saints Row 2 is far superior as a pretention free, fun filled carnage romp and quite a lot of people agree nowdays.

That's my two cents. Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns Of The Patriots is my game of 2008.

Completely agree, Saints Row are fantastic games, GTA kind of lost it's fun factor with GTA IV, and Saints Row stepped in and took its place. I have a lot more time for the SR games now whereas I got so frustrated with GTA IV that I gave up on it after a few hours

I still need to get Fallout 3, maybe for Christmas, playing a lot of Dragon Age atm which comes very close to topping Oblivion imo, although they're quite different games

Agreed Oblivion > Fallout

lol :D I hear they're making a new Elder Scrolls game, I hope its even better

The thing about Oblivion is, you could be anything you wanted, without boundaries

Yeah they recently announced Elder Scrolls V. I can't bloody wait. It's going to take years and years though :(.

MTVN 01-12-2010 11:15 PM

Only problem with Oblivion is that I got so side-tracked by all the possibilities on offer that I ended up having played it for 30 hours or so and not even being very far into the main story

Really? D: Though I suppose that's a good thing, they can't just churn out quality

I have easily done 100+ hours on Oblivion. As much as I love it there's not really a huge amount of variety in it compared to it's predecessor, Morrowind. However it's a beautiful game to just ... well ... walk around. I never fast travelled. Walking between cities was one of the best parts of the game listening to that sexy fookin music.

It's a game I was into enough to actually come up with lame role playing scenarios in my head. I was a no armour, no weapons skooma addict and alcoholic in it once. I'd love to see you be able to actually BE these things in V instead of just you creating it in your head.

I also hope they get rid of the way enemies level up along with you. It's silly when by the time you can get the most powerful swords in the game every common two bit bandit has one. Give players the opportunity to get insanely overlevelled and dominate if they so choose.

When I first started the game I was addicted to doing every little side quest I could find but they seemed to get a little mundane after a while, and the gates can get a bit repetitive. I'm still not completely sure why I shelved it but I stopped playing after 30-odd hours, I'll have to make sure to go back and complete it at some point. I was guilty of using fast travel a lot of the time although if I had time to kill I took a horse and just went wandering around, there's actually some really nice scenery on the plains

I've never actually done the role-creation thing in Oblivion but I did it a lot in Saints Row 2 after I had completed the main game and in Fable a bit as well. It was really sad but it offered some short-term entertainment when there were no real missions to do

Saints Row 2 is great for creating great characters. I used to get a strange thrill out of playing really hot women wearing skimpy shit from the sluttty store in the hidden mall. That place had Ninja outfits, surgeon outfits, everything.

And the Cockyney Bastard preset voice was a thing of beauty.

Yeah "Let's Pretend" or something like that, that was a great place  I weirdly enjoyed dressing up as a serial killer, getting the sword out and just going on a rampage with it. Doing the streaking game was always good fun as well. That was the great thing about SR; it wasnt set on going for realism or anything, it just made a laid-back, fun game

I think the simple fact that you could run without having to hold in a button [1997 RPG, anyone?] made it miles better than GTA IV. GTA IV was where Rockstar forgot what got them to the dance. Instead they went all pretentious, convinced themselves that they really were making a movie, and in no uncertain terms told you that 'you will play OUR vision of GTA IV OUR way damnit!'.

Two hats and two pairs of sunglasses in the entire game.

I mean ... really?!

Saints Row was a throwback game. You could fight wave after wave of enemies who all looked the exact same, but that's the strange quality I want in my games. Realism blows.

It's the ASA that deals with complaints about adverts so you won't get very far going to Ofcom.

Yep exactly, I became quite disillusioned with GTA after that, I'm firmly in the Saints Row camp now, cant wait for their third game

I love Oblivion, I've got two characters on it one's a cat man thing and the other's a dark elf woman who's the head of the mage's guild but I just like running around Avada Kedavra-ing everyone on that file.

Saint's Row is criminally underated, I've never really liked GTA since Vice City, I loved that game. None of the sequels lived up to it for me. Saints Row is a whole lot more fun to play.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 02-12-2010 12:15 AM

fallout 3 has the best soundtrack like ever created
