Yes, they can been seen as dirty, disgusting etc. - i agree with that, and I think it is pointless to let it go. But I don't really think it's humane to dispose of it how you did, if your to spineless to kill a mouse I think you will have problems later in life. And it isn't really irrelevant to comparing into what you are doing, which is in effect slowly killing an animal - rather than instantly killing it.
