even though we don't know if he is in a wheelchair permanently... do you actually think he will be or not?

I hope he isn't but I have a feeling he might be :(

Coronation Street’s Peter Barlow will pull through after being injured in the recent explosion, but will hit the bottle once more as he struggles to come to terms with his new life.

The recovering alcoholic was left fighting for his life under the wreckage of The Joinery in dramatic episodes of the ITV1 soap last week. As he struggle to adjust to being wheelchair-bound after sustaining horrific injuries in the disaster, it has been revealed that the dad of one will fall off the wagon once more.

Peter – played by Chris Gascoyne – will become frustrated when he drops all his groceries while out shopping, and as he wheels past an off-licence, the temptation to give in to his former vice proves too much.

However, as well as his drinking causing problems with his new wife Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) – who he married in hospital when it was believed he may not recover from his injuries – the couple will see boozy babe Carla (Alison King) cause a wedge between them.

The Underworld manager – who was saved from her own battles with alcohol by Peter – will grow increasingly close to the bookie as she realises he has secretly resumed his former drinking habits.

An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: “Peter refused to give up on Carla when she was in the gutter, now it’s her turn. But it’s not a selfless act because she’s desperate to sink her claws into him.

“The longer she’s by his side, the greater the chance she has of getting him to herself.”

However, with doctors warning Peter his sex life may never return to normal, both women may need to make sacrifices to be with the man of their dreams.

Poor Peter :(

I really believe all soaps have the same scriptwriter! Jackson in Emmerdale is now wheelchair bound after a car accident, and now Peter after being flattened by a tram. Do they just have a certain amount of story lines that they use in every soap?

So you think it'd realistic for Peter to be walking around in a few weeks time after having his legs crushed by a falling roof? It's not the same as Jackson either, Jackson will require full time care, Peter is still very able without his legs, but he finds it hard to cope

Two very different stories, Jackson's will most likely dominate his time on the show, if Peter remains in a chair, his story will eventually move away from the chair

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 04:19 PM

so do you actually think he will be like that permanently then???
hope not.

Scarlett. 13-12-2010 04:21 PM

I think it's very possible, but it wouldn't be the end of the road for the character

Chris Tate in Emmerdale was disabled for years until his death, but thatdidn't detract from the character

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 04:37 PM

yes... true but it would sort of change the character. And he wouldn't exactly be able to take simon to school so who would do that?

Do you not think he could end up on crutches in about eight/nine months time?

Scarlett. 13-12-2010 04:39 PM

He might end up on crutches, but the doctors apparently don't rule out that Peter might never walk again

Everyone though him becoming an alcholic would change the character, but it added a new dimension to him

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 04:42 PM

do you think him and carla will end up together?

Scarlett. 13-12-2010 04:44 PM

Not sure, the thing preventing it is Simon IMO, Leanne is a much better mother than I can imagine Carla being

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 04:47 PM

haha yeh.... i really can't picture Carla playing mum :D

Scarlett. 13-12-2010 04:48 PM

So, I'd say Leanne, Peter knows the amount of heartbreak Simon has had in his life

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 04:52 PM

yeah... I can see there being another big twist in the storyline and Carla and Nick ending up together. :)

Scarlett. 13-12-2010 04:57 PM

Maybe, but Nick's gonna be in a very dark place for the forseeable

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 04:59 PM

mmm.. true... very true

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 05:11 PM

do you think he will actually get arrested though? I hear Owen gets asked aboutt it as well.

and their have been many reports in the past saying that their would be a point when Nick and Carla end up together.

Scarlett. 13-12-2010 05:12 PM

Not sure, I think it will end up being Owen's fault

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 05:15 PM

same :)

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 05:21 PM

well it must end up being Owen's fault because don't forget that Ben Price (Nick) is staying on Corrie for at least another year.

bbfan1991 13-12-2010 05:24 PM

Poor Peter:(, I think Carla will still be interested, I love their scenes together. Leanne at least injects personality into Nick but he'll drag her down again if they end up getting together.

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 07:18 PM

CarlaConnor 13-12-2010 07:23 PM
