I have to agree. I like my Hip Hop gritty and hardcore. I'm not a fan of collaborations with popstars and songs with the rapper putting on some fake arabian accent so he can talk about smacking bitches arses and all that other filth around the time of Encore. But that's the way most Hip Hop's gone. I'm surprised the term Hip Pop has not entered use yet. Or Pop Hop or whatever. New Eminem I just find bland to be honest. Well done, you beat an addiction to every sleeping pill under the sun. I get it.
As for Green Day ... they didn't change their sound one bit. They are too shit for that. It's the same boring guitar chords arranged in slightly different orders only with more pretentious 'down with Bush, dudes!' lyrics. I can't listen to a band where every song sounds the exact same. They have spawned a small army of pretentious asshole teens like 30 Seconds To Mars have done too.
