If that slows the flow from the server to log-it then that superfluous nonesense seems an own-goal. Slow the site for no good reason.

Equally, can I bet Novo would like Locke's posts and Locke would like Novo's posts. Or Sean would like Stu's posts and Stu would like Sean's. You can rub backs privately without logging it!

Waste of time is back-rubbing publicly..........no probs with it so long as no server issues.

But wouldn't clicking a button be less taxing on a server than a new post? :thumbs2:

Were you here wee Niall last BB evictions? Not able to talk for hours because server down. Far less you liking Scott's giffs to F the place - honest - if it can cope then fine. When busy they switch the back-hugging off

Don't be silly. I've been here during evictions and I know how busy it got but seriously you think two people could crash a server from quoting/replying each others gifs? I'm sure a server that could handle over 3 and a half thousand people at once could handle two people posting gifs/replies to each other in a chat thread let alone pushing a button.

Bluddy hell - think of it - has your non-useful except "likes", has to record it to post, record it from originator, record your positive. 3 times saying OK!

Claymores 22-02-2011 03:25 PM

Have a wee think Niall what this costs on slow TIBB

Claymores 22-02-2011 03:30 PM

Don't wanna argue, so you obviously know better - TIBB will not switch off things cos cannie cope with you - you are obviously correct - HONEST

Niall 22-02-2011 03:32 PM

I'm just saying generating a new post would obviously mean more number crunching for the server.

But yeah I don't wanna argue either (done enough of that recently) so we'll end it here.

You two take this to PM or I will have Mark ban you both.

I'm not in your thread :/

Locke. 22-02-2011 06:09 PM

You are now

Patrick 22-02-2011 07:39 PM

Claymores,
Jesus.

Liking the post isn't going to make a sever slower.
It's not as if the post will be duplicated it'll simply say '3 Like This' and you click on it to see who liked it.

I question that thought Patrick - if I "like" your post it has to be recorded on the post and your ID and my ID that it sent it. At the moment that is fine, but imagine a BB eviction evening I'm liking your post and you're liking mine.........bla bla bla. Would the TIBB server last till 10pm? When it gets back how many are you gonna like to take it out again?

Locke. 22-02-2011 08:43 PM

There isn't going to be another BB Eviction evening.
