I will be watching it. People bleat on about how our heritage and culture are being eroded and then make a big thing about not wanting to watch a bit of British pageantry. People too cool to watch the Royal Wedding should have the bank holiday revoked.

How pathetic for anyone to feel the need to wish dreadful things to happen on a young couple's wedding day, irrespective of WHO they are. If people are not interested, it would be more believable that they're REALLY not interested, if they just didn't bother to comment, and allow those of us who want to celebrate an historic and joyous event to do so without snidey, spiteful and malicious comments. Such overt and vociferous dislike and malice smacks to me of pitiful attention seeking and an effort to appear "cool" when in fact it just comes across as cringingly sad and pointless.
If I'm not interested in something I wouldn't waste a single second of my precious time coming onto a public forum grandstanding about my disinterest! |

Honestly I don't care. Many of my friends told me my anniversary with my girlfriend on the 16th of April was much more important day than this wedding. :joker:
But I'm not gonna knock it, we've got a day off. Should've bought that "thanks for the day off" t-shirt with a union jack on it when I saw it in Primark. :-/ Still though there's so many stupid little bits of merchandise on sale that like no one even wants. |
I can see the attraction of it in the most general sense of it being an 'event'. I'll probably watch it so I can talk about it and understand what others are saying about it and point and laugh at the funny bits and any potential TV fuck ups and all that.

I agree with Livia and angus; when I genuinely don't care about something I don't bother to comment or read about it further, I go out of my way to avoid it as best as I can. It's disrespectful to wish for something to go wrong on their wedding day, I'd be annoyed to say the least if people were hoping my wedding day went wrong in some way. I remember a thread from not so long ago about a lack of identity in this country; and yet people moan about the Royal Family being pointless when there are few things more quintessentially British than the existence of our Royal Family, whose lineage plays an important part in most of our modern history whether you like it or not. Not so long ago, saying some of the things people have said about the Royal Wedding (on here and in real life) would have been treason and would have been punishable as a crime - obviously times change, but I do think that the lack of respect that people show for such important figures is appalling, even if their role has diminished over the years. I dunno, it's not something I even feel particularly strongly about, I just don't like a lot of the disrespect I read on here because at the end of the day, Kate Middleton's definitely a regular person just like the rest of us, and I think that William's a very down to earth, nice guy too.

Not really. I'll probably watch some of it though out of curiosity.
My mum was like nearly getting upset because she has to go to work and will miss it, I was like '...what o_o' |
nothing more british than a royal family descended from Germans xxx

Oh shape up you wet farts. Jesus fucking christ. Who cares if some kid wants something to fuck up live on air for stupid kicks? It's hardly translatable to real life wrath.
It's ~disrespectful! No it's not. It's just a dumb comment on a casual dress forum. Lord almighty. |

I probably won't watch it, I don't care either way about the Royal Family and chances are I'll have a lie in that day so I'll be sleeping through it.

I can appreciate patriotism I guess (when it comes in light-hearted forms such as sporting competitions) I just think it's a bit fucking silly to get so nationally invested about a bunch of rich, unelected people who (95% of) hardly do anything and are so steeped in other countries' royal families anyway. They're certainly nothing to be proud of - Prince Philip's a borderline racist, Sarah's a corrupt money-grabbing arsehole, Andrew fraternises with sex offenders. Sure, Charles and William seem lovely. But there's absolutely nothing of merit about any of them that other philanthropists can't do. |

I grimace at the X-Factor coverage at the end of the year. I would absoloutely love if some catastrophic mishap of production happened live on air so I could point and laugh at it on YouTube along with the rest of my thick, evil friends. Yeah it would be at the expense of the production crew and people who enjoy the show but ... well ... yeah. No but. It's just natural thoughtflow and I couldn't really give a rats arse. I find it so odd when someone picks up on that and then points out how awful it is. Is there any celebrity of any kind out there whose potential misfortune you would find instinctively pleasing or hillarious on a casual level? It dosen't mean you'd punch them in the gut if you met them in person. |

For the record for those getting their knickers in a twist over casual comments(again) I do not WISH for bad things to happen to kate and will. I just think it would be funny if it happened live on air. Kinda like how its hilarious when a news reporter *******s up their line or something.
