My Uncle became a basket case which is probably why I have strong opinions. It almost killed my auntie having to care for him.

I think I was saying I never wish to get into that situation and prefer to bow-out disgracefully but still 100% me. I can say this as no dependants so it's up to me.

I completely understand where you are coming from on your own thoughts as to living into old age and health matters.

I was really sorry to hear so many of your family are or have been affected by the effects of Dementia in any form.

Your Auntie I feel very sorry for as it is a very hard and 100% demanding road to be on caring for someone with extreme Dementia, not just the demands of it all but also the loss of recognition of loved ones too,she would feel totally powerless and it is a very hard and cruel thing to have to watch.

All the best to you Claymores, thank you for sharing that with me too.

The longer I live, the better. I just hope it's the sort of life that I could happily live again and again as I have a bad feeling it will be the only one I have.

You are a clever and mature guy sir.

In 1987 my research paper for my 1st degree was that 'we' cannot afford the elderly in the 21st Century who will have complex health needs and keep living longer. It has become true unfortunately. Pension plans, retirement ages, health planning are now in flux.

I know there is only 1 BB Eye - I take the opposite view - 'live fast, die young'. At my age there are certain things I can't do so well (silly example playing golf on my birthday with mates was always a tradition now stopped). The view I was trying to put across is 'get it all in' while you are here rather than become old and decrepid.

Yes, I hate the idea of death and plan to live as long as possible.

Depends what shape I'm in. Would hate to need constant care

This is how it works, when you loathe life, you live long, when you love life you live a short while.

Nah it's not true.
I don't want to outlive anyone I love. :( Unless my husband is really really hot and still amazingly virile at that point.
