My Uncle became a basket case which is probably why I have strong opinions. It almost killed my auntie having to care for him.
I think I was saying I never wish to get into that situation and prefer to bow-out disgracefully but still 100% me. I can say this as no dependants so it's up to me.

I completely understand where you are coming from on your own thoughts as to living into old age and health matters.
I was really sorry to hear so many of your family are or have been affected by the effects of Dementia in any form.
Your Auntie I feel very sorry for as it is a very hard and 100% demanding road to be on caring for someone with extreme Dementia, not just the demands of it all but also the loss of recognition of loved ones too,she would feel totally powerless and it is a very hard and cruel thing to have to watch.
