The thing is though, wasn't the guy kinda creepy too? I mean, turning up to catch her out like thats pretty stalker-ish

The guy who did that Supersize me accused it of being fake O.o. Thinking back I'm not sure, it did seem sort of farfetched in places. But the story seemed to override that, hmmmmmm

Quote:

In an interview Ariel Schulman related that some viewers believe Catfish to be a fake documentary, or a hoax. Morgan Spurlock, director and subject of the documentary Super Size Me, walked up to the producers of the film during one of its initial screenings and told them "it was the best fake documentary he had ever seen." Comedian Zach Galifianakis also has stated that he does not believe the events in the film to be true.[7]

The Schulman brothers and Joost stand behind their original statements: the film is "100% true"[7] and tells the story exactly as it happened. They also chalk up the perfect timing of every narrative element in the movie to just coincidence and sheer luck. Ariel Schulman has stated that

"It felt [too perfect] to us also, as we were making it. We're very lucky. We look back at our experience and everything leads to [the moment we discovered things were not what they seemed]. As filmmakers we were ready; we felt like we spent our lives preparing to be ready, and it just happened to be me who shares the office with my brother and my producing partner

InOne 11-05-2011 05:07 PM

That was a good read. I'm starting to doubt it's real more and more now, especially with the reaction bit that it mentioned, and how she didn't freak out or anything

My Theory:

The film is true however the 'live' filming didn't really begin until the 'fishy' bits started to happen, like realizing that that wasn't her singing, so they filmed it from X point onward and then went back and filmed the beginning by acting it out according to the events that happened.

InOne 11-05-2011 05:27 PM

I also wondered with the disabled kids in the house how she had time to do all that. The whole thing seemed pretty elaborate and took a lot of effort, and those kids seemed hard work and time consuming

I was surprised that Abby Girl was real she looked nothing like the mum or the dad though.

Kerry 11-05-2011 07:26 PM

I believe the story is true. Not so sure about the filming

andybigbro 12-05-2011 10:48 PM

This movie was wierd.

But I was completely stuck to it while watching.

I don't think I'm up for starting it again. I thought it would be more dramatic though. Instead of spending the day with an old woman on a beach.

It's a true story and in 'real time' kinda thing so .... yeah a bit odd but good (IMO)

InOne 27-07-2011 01:28 AM

We still don't know if it's real or no :suspect:
