Do they not understand that whilst a lot of American imports work well over here, almost everything British made is remade for American's to understand.
This just isn't gonna work.

But I suppose it will give Cheryl Cole a better setting. If she'd been thrown into an American Idol set up she'd have been amateurish and showed her lack of knowledge of music.

But with all these bad decisions the entire production will most likely be a big damp squid anyway.

GypsyGoth 07-05-2011 10:45 PM

I really doubt Steve Jones will present, that seems to be too much of a risk. I'd say it's a joke.

GiRTh 07-05-2011 10:54 PM

How does this tw*t get so much work? He's a poor presenter. He loves making fun of people but gets in a strop when its done it to him. The girls may like him but WTF why is he on TV so much? Massive fail. Simon's gonna find out he's not a popular in the states as he thinks he is.

Daniel McIver 07-05-2011 10:57 PM

Too Many Brits , need at least a amercian host. I hope this flops! BGT is slowling failing and with lots of people not watching x factor this year because cheryl and simon arent in it , it doest look good for cowell. To be honest , i hope the x factors finishes , its run its course. Hopefully more people will now tune into bb :D

thats not true. American idol, Americas got talent and Dancing with the stars are all British shows that stuck to the same formula and are 3 of the biggest shows on US tv. Dancing with the stars is an exact copy of Strictly. These shows even have Brits on them.

Its about choosing the right personalities for the right audience. American TV formats only work over here with British personalities hosting them. We wouldnt take to American hosts too well.

Yes, it is true. You've just proved my point; DWTS was a remake of SCD.

We air Dancing with the Stars, American Idol and America's Got Talent as well as rightfully having our own versions; X Factor, Strictly Come Dancing and Britain's Got Talent. How many of our shows do America air? None.

And when you look at other genre shows and television in general our Tv schedules are packed with US shows. Many of which are great and are my favourites.

But how many Brit shows are big in America?
The Office, Life on Mars, Skins? Only popular because Hollywood remade them.

We buy them as they are, America make their own. Which is probably a good thing really.

Also I'm a bit sketchy about Nicole doing it, it would air on the weekends no? She's hamilton's good luck charm, he'd want her there if he was to win big.

Callum 08-05-2011 12:32 AM

Has Nicole even got any presenting skills? I can really see them both lacking any chemistry on stage and how the Americans will understand Steve's strong Welsh accent is beyond me

Oh you're talking about showing our own versions? Ok well thats different. But these US shows only get shown on minor TV channels here not the biggies. It's a relatively small audience. America makes 50 times more TV shows than us so they really don't need to import foreign talent shows.

Now confirmed by FOX, via a tweet from @TheXFactorUSA:

CHART-TOPPING ARTIST NICOLE SCHERZINGER & BRITISH TV PERSONALITY STEVE JONES CONFIRMED TO HOST THE X FACTOR #THEXFACTORUSA

Callum 08-05-2011 08:23 PM

Poor Dermot. :( I really think he would have been a much better choice for the job and he's more well known to American viewers because he did the E! coverage of the Royal Wedding.

GypsyGoth 08-05-2011 11:26 PM

I think having Steve Jones is a big mistake. I find it hard to believe that there are no talented american presenters to do the job.

Beastie 08-05-2011 11:55 PM

If Steve Jones is a joke hosting it.. what does that make Chezza Cole actually being a judge on it?

Marsh. 08-05-2011 11:58 PM

Nicole Scherzinger - American singer, dancer relegated to autocue duty whilst Paula-Past-It-Abdul and Cheryl Cole take over judging the talent? Something very wrong there.

Oh, yeah, and the welsh dude...... what's happened Simon?

Younger Presenters are Easy to Control.

Dermot would have wanted more of the Cake

Life In The Fast Lane.

I think it's great that people have open minds and are prepared to wait and see before they come to the conclusion it's all gonna be crap.

Erm...

James 09-05-2011 09:59 PM

This is going to be a smorgasboard of UK accents. What will Americans make of it?

well there has been quite a few on US tv in recent years(Cat Deeley, Len goodman, Vernon kay, Mel B etc...) but this is two unknowns as well as two weird accents.

I dont see why they even need Jones. Nicole would be fine by herself. Two hosts just means they need to have chemistry on top of being likeable.
