There is a very nasty smell to this case, very unsavoury.

I find it hard that some random paedo or paedo group casually took her from a hotel and not the rest of the kids. They obviously had some time to get in and out, why not get them all? Just does not add up. Maybe the fact the parents want to keep her in the media is a double bluff ;)

I think cracks would have been shown if the parents did something.. I feel sorry for them, I hope they find out the truth 1 day, it would be awful not knowing if your daughter is out there with some stranger or not.

well if its a lone guy he could hardly manage to run off with more than one. Plus I think pedos zoom in on a certain age/type of child.

truth is, both stories are equally plausible. To say her parents killed her and disposed of the body in such a short space of time(in a foreign country) without any trace is also hard to believe. They obviously havent been tripped up or faltered under interrogation. If they were guilty you'd think one of them would crack at some point. Or get their stories crossed.

From the snippet I got from Wikipedia of what went on.. like I said it puts Gerry in a bad light.

Does Gerry talk much or is it usually Kate? What if Gerry got a bit tipsy on the night they left the kids.. and what if Gerry is a bit of a peedo and fancies his own daughter? Lol sorry for the sick theories.

However I do think the main reasons why Gerry and Kate kept changing their statements. Well I don't know how many times it was.. is that they were in shock at the situation or didn't want to look even worse as parents?

I think they should film a documentary about the place. Film the exact room the kids were sleeping in.. the tapas bar.. the resort.. everything!

It must be bad enough having to live for four years knowing some disgusting pervert took your child, of wondering if she's still alive or of what kind of horrors she faced before she was murdered. It must be made even harder when people who really know nothing about the case but have read something on Wikipedia or scanned an article in tabloids and consequently decided that the couple are guilty.

To see the outrageous comments made on here makes me worry about the future of trial by jury if this is how some people really think.

I think people underestimate how seriously the relevant authorities take cases like this. Apart from anything else, the Portugese would be absolutely cacking themselves that such an incident would deter holidaymakers and therefore lose them millions and jobs etc

Which means they would have been extremely thorough in their investigations. Reading some people on here you'd think the investigation was run by monkeys who didnt spot glaring evidence. They look at every detail and consider all possibilities. Fact is, they just didnt have any evidence to even take the McCanns to trial. Saying they refused to answer certain questions means nothing without knowing what the questions actually were.
