It makes me feel sick to think of that happening in the middle of a supermarket. Must have took something to do that with just a knife.

Haven't read much more than few bits n pieces about this: awful beyond belief. What did he use? Decapitating someone in one fell swoop isn't the most easiest of things (I'm thinking back to days in Saudi in the 70's when public beheadings etc were taking place).

What on earth did this psycho use? Was it one clear blow? That poor woman and her family - words aren't enough.

Poor souls that witnessed it, especially any young children. Holidays are meant to be enjoyed and relaxed - what a horrendous thing to see.

Was it necessary for The Sun to advertise the free lego toy THAT big.....

Oh that's handy eh. :shocked: It does beg the question why such inherrently evil people with history of violence are kept alive when clearly they will never be able to be safely controlled unless placed in secure psych units - and not given an injection to end it. But hey, that's a whole different thread altogether.

Yep. Clearly this man will never be 'rehabilitated' - and at massive cost to the country in which they live and are held in secure units. As I say though, that's a whole different thread...... would be an interesting and I imagine, a heated thread mind you!!

This is the one of the most horrible things I have heard of,total madness. Just so gruesome and really sick.

Clearly this man is completely deranged and must be hospitalised for the rest of his life.

Even though I have no young children myself I think describing details of this horrific murder and its aftermath on the 6.00 o'clock news isn't acceptable. It was enough to know that the poor lady had been murdered.

I have to say I turned it over earlier as my 7 year old was listening. I usually don't mind her watching the news with me but a decapitation is nightmare stuff!

That's horrific! The man must have a very disturbed mind, He'll probably and hopefully get a life sentence for this.

It does make me wonder about the supermarket though, the knife was from there but you can't decapitate someone with just an ordinary knife, at least not quickly. It must have been something machete-esque. I hope that this shakes them into being more careful with how they keep knives and such.

I just have no words, that poor, poor woman. What the hell is this earth coming to?! You couldn't even begin to imagine that happening this day in age or ever. It's like something out of a horror film. I honestly thought when I saw a link to it on Facebook that it was those fake scam sites that try and draw you in until I saw the news.

Woman beheaded in Tenerife had sought aid before attack

Jennifer Mills-Westley the British woman killed in a supermarket in Tenerife had complained of harassment

The British woman beheaded in a supermarket on the Spanish island of Tenerife was named as it emerged that she had complained of being harassed moments before she was attacked. Jennifer Mills-Westley, 60, from Norwich, was killed on Friday in a frenzied and unprovoked knife attack in the town of Arona, part of the Los Cristianos beach resort.

Her daughter Sarah said: "Mum retired a number of years ago and was fully enjoying her retirement travelling between Tenerife and France where she spent time visiting her daughter and grandchildren, and her other daughter in Norfolk. She was full of life, generous of heart, would do anything for anyone. We now have to find a way of living without her love and light and we would ask at this difficult time for some privacy as we try to come to terms with our loss."

Spanish police identified the alleged killer as Deyan Valentinov Deyanov, 28, an unemployed Bulgarian.

The attack began in a supermarket. Witnesses say the assailant grabbed a knife from inside a shop and stabbed the dead woman at least 14 times. He then decapitated her, carrying the severed head out into the street claiming to be "a prophet from God".

Local media reported that he left the supermarket shouting: "I am God's avenger and I come to mete out justice."

It was initially believed the murder was a random incident. But a report on a British expat website said that Mills-Westley had reported Deyanov to a guard at the town's social security office for threatening behaviour.

Deyanov ranted at the security guard and was moved on. Several minutes later Mills-Westley left the office and entered the supermarket, which was next door. Minutes later the attack took place and the same security guard, named locally as Juan Antonio Hernandez Delgado, heard the commotion and chased the killer down the street before wrestling him to the ground.

Further reports gave an impression of a disturbed individual. Locals said Deyanov had been known for threatening and often violent behaviour, once having punched a local shipowner who refused to tell him the time, smashing his teeth. Jose Alberto Gonzalez Reveron, mayor of Arona, said video footage "showed the man became enraged" inside the store.

Christina Perez, a legal representative at a nearby court, said a group of lawyers had seen the man leave the shop. "They saw the man running out of the supermarket with the head in his hands. A security man from the complex ran after him and jumped on to him so he fell, and then he threw the head on to the road."

Mills-Westley's former employer, Norfolk county council, offered its condolences, praising her work teaching road safety to youngsters.

"Our deepest sympathies go to Jenny's family and friends following this terrible news," the authority said in a statement. "Jenny was a popular and well respected member of staff, who during her time with Norfolk county council worked as a road safety officer working with many schools and children to teach cycling safety training."

The Foreign Office has confirmed that consular officials are liaising with the authorities in Los Cristianos, which is home to a large British expat community.

Apparently he was screaming he was 'God's Prophet' and then he hacked her head off, and ran down the street yelling, 'It was his treasure'.

It probably happened too fast to get a picture though - I mean I doubt anyone is going to go on Holiday to there and be like 'Right love, get the camera ready incase a hobo runs down the road with a head in his hands!'.
