Things like OMG and LOL are pretty much known by everybody.

Its more posts made entirely in text speech...pretty much the same as the posts all in capitals thing

MeMyselfAndI 16-05-2011 08:21 PM

It's offensive GIF shaun
Can we say, lol, wth, wtf ,etc?

And erm, call me subversive, but isn't chat and games supposed to be...chat and games? It's essentially being pedantic. Does anyone actually report the "leona2" posts, aside from our resident fan? Because if that's what it boils down to the emoticon is used to convey hurt or upset with a situation, not mock the...thing.

Its not just leona2. And theres not a problem when its not constant...but recently pretty much every post has been ending in hee1/leona2 etc.

And LOL and that...I explained above, the text speech rule is about people who make their whole post 'lyk dis' which has also been on the increase

MeMyselfAndI 16-05-2011 08:23 PM

I report the GIF itself too as its trolly

Out of interest do you guys recieve a lot of reports about the swear filter being broken by members?

Shaun 16-05-2011 08:24 PM

the idea of Mr. "Biasty" reporting with regard to members' language. Classic irony.

MeMyselfAndI 16-05-2011 08:25 PM

Lol I'm gunna report if people break these rules to become a mod.

Quite a lot, yeah :/

More when its on season though, which is why I thought it was best to get all this out of the way before BB starts again

Woah that's genuinly surprising.

I assume most of the reporting is totally non vindictive in nature and just out of a genuine cause for moral concern.

Okay I'll stop annoying you now .

Thats questionable sometimes ;)

But yeah, you would be surprised at half the things that get reported.

Its really horrid when BBs on, people report other people just for saying they dislike a housemate

Takes so long to sift through the useless reports to find one thats actually a rulebreak

Zippy 16-05-2011 08:38 PM

I hope you mods are gonna start leading by example with the swearing ban? :p

it wasn't specifically aimed at you but we all that know mods swear on here. Which I don't have a problem with because I think its a legit part of expression...gives your point that extra oomph sometimes. But its not fair to impose rules on members that mods themselves don't abide by.

They don't break the swear filter though. Swearing is okay. It's having the letters displayed on screen is the problem.

Yeah, I know.

Shaun 16-05-2011 08:47 PM

I've lost count of the number of times Stu and I have tried to reiterate the difference between:

"I hate you Smithy, you're a twat."

and "omg, that bloke on Come Dine With Me was such a twat."

:bawling:

Kerry 16-05-2011 08:49 PM

But we can swear so long as it's not filtered? I know bastard and twat aren't though know you could argue that they are in the English dictionary

I think moderate use is fine. Just don't aim it as an insult at anyone and I wouldn't see a problem

For instance "Some twat wasp stung me today" - fine

"I think *member* is a total twat" - not so fine

Its not the actual swearing, its the breaking of the filter. Putting one letter in a word in italics so it doesnt get...as stu so nicely put it earlier...snowflaked :p

Though I think being called a twat is a lot worse than half the stuff that IS filtered :S

Shaun 16-05-2011 08:55 PM

I still don't know why ess hit is filtered. <_<

Ahhh get you. I wonded how a few words filtered actually got through. I'd seen itallics before but they'd actually appear as itallics :D
