it is hard to get a balance though some people are genuinely nice people but where can you draw the line that just cause they are nice that they are boring? If they started arguing and involving themselves in confronations we would probably no longer percieve them as the nice person we origanlly did and as such would vote them out. At the end of the day the show is watched nowadays by people in their late teens where as years ago it wasn't - that isn't just going to suddenly change.

BB5 had relatively normal housemates - Stu, Shell, Victor, Emma, Michelle, Jason, Ahmed, Vanessa & it was the best series. You wanna house full of OTT housemates? 12 Marco/Nadia types would be so annoying & just make people hate the show even more, it'll just be seen as towie house, it needs hms that people can relate to.

BB is supposed to be about normal people in extreme situations & it's become extreme people in boring situations, they should properly go back to basics IMO.

The fact BB2/BB3 are remembered as been good series is because they were in that period of time. But If they aired BB3 now as some new show to compete against other reality tv shows people would find it boring and too basic.

To be honest.. Bex from BB9 was quite normal but extroverted? Or maybe she was just a freak? BB could drive anyone mad and most hms come out as a "freak who was on BB".

I want bloody entertainment. Whether the housemates are normal, freaky or whatever!

I do think the majority of housemates should be between 18-30!

I want to understand something and this is not sarcastic and directed, in general, to a certain kind of BB viewer,
but its this:
The basic premise of BB is along the lines of putting together a dozen or so total strangers from all stations in life and of course devoid them of privacy and of course submit to an authoritarian system etc.
OK.
IF your 'ideal' is to have as many outrageous 20-somethings, extroverts only doing all manner of 'extreme' things such as partying hard, having terrible arguments,
food fights, jealous confrontations and of then as much tits-out, dicks out, bed-wrestling...
...then why would you a) waste your time watching Big Brother and b) try and pressure Big Brother to introduce it?

Why don't you just watch Jersey Shore and during commercials watch porn online?
(or just watch porn on Jersey Shore)?

As an example I love and value and find entertainment in Boxing. So this is like me becoming a big fan of Rugby for the occasional fights and then wishing Rugby would have more and more fist-fights and join Rugby forums voting for 'More Fighting the Better!',

because big brother has changed, and weather people like it or not the programme is no long a social experiment as it was plugged as in series 1 but is now an entertainment programme/game show which is what it is all over the world now, the programme has evolved (or de-evolved depending on how you look at it) alongside its audience. So unfortunately for those who want BB to go back to its 'roots' of BB1 and focus on the social experiment side i think its is very very unlikely - it just isnt that show anymore. You might argue that the public want it to go back to that but we live in a society now who do get hooked on things like geordie shore, only way is essex ect so Big Brother has just moved on with the times. So BB producers are going to want people with big personalities to keep the audience intrested, argumentative people to add some drama and some normals to relate to and some freaks to keep people talking and the media happy - and i for one would glady welcome that as long as its kept entertaining. I for one would now question why people watch BB who only want to watch a social experiment cause i really think your looking in the wrong place now.

I would suggest you were describing people living in the BB1 days when Big Brother was (for most people) just about the first time and place where you might be a 'video voyeur' possibly seeing nudity,

The days when Nasty Nick was indeed the nastiest scandal on television.

So I could see why, back in 2000-2003 you would still want BB to be the one delivering the tits, punches, foul language and sexy bits.

But that was then and this is now and we get back to the same question:
- Why waste your time watching BB for the sex, booze and fights in 2011??

In less than 20 minutes you could find online I'd guess no less than 50 'voyeur' style shocking sex-tapes catching actual celebrities doing some crazy sick ****,
or,
in 2 minutes find websites with thousands of hours of amateurs 'caught on tape'.
Why the hell would you require/request Big Brother to put you through 200 hours before you see (maybe) some soft-core hand release or the side of a penis in a shower?

Geordie Shore or Jersey Shore gives you outrageous fist-fights between HM's about once every 8 minutes.
So you watch 200 hrs of BB to get just 1 or 2 incidents?

You get to this thing where you say "Well then just cut the BB social experiment stuff and the BB original premises and put even more outrageous types in there!"
"Make BB a free-for-all then!"
Ok.
Then you get back to the same question. Why bother calling it Big Brother anyways?
Then you just have 'Elmstree Shore' and so.... why not just make that and call it that.

Well i can only speak for myself, but i personally hate thing like geordie shore, only way is essex ect but love Big Brother. Reason being is its not set up like the aforementioned, they make themselves out to be 'reality' programmes but alot of the content and situations are preplanned, whereas big brother offers a, for lack of a better word, real life drama. I do want arguments in the house, not so fussed about the nudity but i just want it to portray real life in there and in real life there is sex, nudity, arguments ect. But if the producers put in no fame hungry or attentions seekers or big personalities would we really get a taste of everything? i think not becuase the average jo bloggs would shy away from truly being 100% themselves infront of the cameras and the viewing nationd and therefore holdback on demonstrating 'real life'. I watch because it is an entertaining game show not just to see things kick off or people have sex, but because in a sense we are 'Big Brother' we are always watching them as contestants and juding their evey action, emotion and word, and that is what i love. Getting a glimpse into peoples lives that we would not ordinarally meet. I am happy to embrace Big Brother with whatever freaks, personalities, nut jobs and normals they thow in and just hope it is well produced and keeps me entertained and then for me it will ahve done its job

And ElProximo.... I don't want BB to be like TOWIE or Geordie Shore. I only watch a bit of TOWIE out of all them freak shows because it's a guilty pleasure. TOWIE is full of people even thicker than yourself and so they actually make you feel good about yourself. It's a piece of tacky, scripted rubbish though.

BB has gone past a social experiment. Of course the majority will be fame hungry *****s. However it is an entertainment show and that's what we need.

BB is a gameshow too. Unlike TOWIE and Geordie Shore. This is why we need characters like Makosi from bb6. Who was intelligent, a gameplayer, articulate. We saw every side of her personality. The romance, the arguments, the humour! Everything.

We don't want a house just full of "normal" people like bb4 and bb11. Which were both disappointing series!! BB10 had the most unlikeable people. BB8 was a teeny bopper series. So yeah.. we should not have too many "normal" people who are "boring", too many teeny boppers or too many unlikeable people!

We don't want to watch a house full of Maysoons who do bugger all do we?

I want housemates who don't hold back though. Some will.. because they want to sail to the final and win while doing nothing in the house. Like Rachel BB9, Sophie BB10 and Josie BB11.

This is where the subjective thing comes up. You find this the most entertaining.
I thought one of the most compelling and intriguing emotion-inducing moments in all the BB11 series was Steve recounting an absolutely horrifying moment in his life.
Absolutely chilling, memorable, fascinating, deep horror and also tremendous admiration and pride in someone so humble about it.

So you see how the problem here?
It doesn't work to answer this saying something like "Because those ARE the best HMS!".

Yes but 10 year olds would want to be the most interesting and exciting attention-getting people. This is what they understand when mom loves outrageous Shabby but thinks Steve is a 'waste of time'.
But this can be a sort of logical consequence to filling the house with outrageous tits-out wild boys and girls being superficial characters.

I don't think a Josie has a chance to 'float' when she has 10 other normal looking 'average person' HMs who have character.
Who have long life experience, wisdom, who have done some significant things in life.

Anyways, I'd say nowadays you don't need BB to throw out its premise and social experiment so it can 'keep up' with the outrageous 'shock reality' programs.
IF you love speed, looks and loud noises then you don't need to spend time trying to drop a racing engine in your family volvo or paint a Jaguar cherry red with yellow stripes. You don't keep trying to put racing tires and smashing down your ford hatchback.
You just go buy any number of high-performance glossy sports cars.

HOWEVER,
At least, you are quite animated and chose to aim right to topics, ideas about life etc.

What happens is that they are quick to see you are coming up with a comedy persona. The comedian of the house. Protagonist AND antagonist in every scenario.
But what you need to know is they are also one-step ahead of that. They are not really interested in that so much as what part of your personality and character and life experience makes you feel the need to be like that.
Why you will become highly competitive with (or instantly bond with) another HM who has that same need to be the 'Isn't it weird when..' type of chatty stand-up.
Fair warning too.. ..you could get REALLY effed up in there. On purpose. Big Brother can be so shockingly cruel to exactly your kind of personality and we've seen that with surprising ease.

But look... I'd say at least you showed some depth and, even if, and when they destroy your 'face' I could see you will go for the creative, the 'deeper meaning' and you develop more sophisticated and meaningful relationships than 90% of the applicants we've seen.

btw - I admire anyone who would apply and put themselves out there and goes through what you did.
