if only all towns were so clever, without the tax from smokers there'd be a lot less money in the pocket to spend at Asda

In NYC it works
They can Not Smoke in Parks.

Those smokers Smoke in legal places,
So you are Wrong.

Towns are Clever
The Tax is still going in
as smokers go to a Place that it is Legal to smoke

hmmm wonders where the legal place is if the town is banned. What will happen to the livlihood of the pub owners who have already suffered, if people can't smoke outside the pubs either :eureka: they could ban alcohol as well!

InOne 04-07-2011 03:04 PM

The goverment seem to want pubs to die a long horrible and painfully slow death. Even heard talks of them banning smoking in Beer gardens. But surely that madness can't happen :bored:

It wouldn't surprise me, pathetic little town councillors just trying to give themselves something to do so they keep their jobs

:joker: I have loved all your points so far on this topic jf, it wouldn't surprise me one day that we may have to justify the use of energy to some officialdom in the future as to lights on etc. Great posts jf.

George Orwell and 1984, was not far off the mark he was just about 20 to 30 years too early as to his predictions of 1984.

Also arista, I take your point that the govt do not run that town but the govt actually runs the whole Country as you well know, it had in its election manifesto its determination to remove from peoples lives the nanny state nonsense and restrictions placed on them during the last govt as to Education, health and safety and how councils operated.so the govt should demand this cannot be done anywhere in Britain.
We are not the USA, we don't have different states, there should not be permitted different laws in one town that are not binding in other towns.

Only the govt can demand that doesn't happen so the govt should act and slap this silly council down and hard.

Yes gone are the days when you could stand outside of Greggs, eating your pasty, drinking your lager and polishing it off with a nice fag. Taking care of your heart, lungs and liver in one go, well at least it didn't discriminate

An easier way to get less smokers...would be stop selling cigarettes and tobacco.

But they make too much money from those, so cant be doing that.

Instead, let people spend their money on these horrible horrible things...an then make them feel like they have done wrong by buying them. Perfect

InOne 05-07-2011 12:55 PM

They should be concentrating on the rising number of teen alcoholics :nono:
