Personally i would tell everybody that i planned to keep every penny and screw charity whilst simultaneously going about making decisions on how would be best to contribute a good chunk of it to help as many people/charitys as i could. Any haters would be exposed and seen for what they are.

This is where they find their lives have now changed forever - and this is the down side coming into play. This is where they find who their true friends are.

They should be able to spend their money in whatever way they want - they won it fair and square.

It's £20k per annum for 10 years: and honestly, as much as it sounds a huge amount -it isn't. It can be spent in the blink of an eye.

I've always said that if I won that amount of money, I'd build my own little area with a few houses, and everyone that I loved would get their own house and we'd make our own little village with all of our massive mansions :tongue: I'd also give a lot of money to support local charities - the bigger and more well known ones all get a lot of money but quite often the smaller local ones, such as local hospices and animal shelters really have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to survive, so I'd like to make a big difference to them, rather than a smaller difference to another charity such as childline, which already gets a lot of money.

I'd rather opt to call them naive - they've never experienced this before. I do however think they should have avoided the publicity until they got their heads around it all...and when it had sunk in, then made a decision on whether to go public - when they have grasped how this would change their lives.

Shame but it was a certainty to happen. As long as they are able to not let it 'get to them' - they have a lot of adjustment to do.

I would pack up and ship out to foreign shores - if I won anything that was truly substantial (ie: I mean a few million)

I live a life where I actually don't need too much to keep me happy - I don't need (or want) a huge amount of people around me.

I'd jaunt between some fab private tropical exotic beachhouse and somewhere in the middle of a forest - and be happy to become the next old Brigette Bardot, with my closest friends being at the end of a phone/keyboard and coming to visit.

Yes, Camelot would have advised them. Not only would they have done so, Camelot would have provided their own advisors to be available to them, and free of charge. You can take that from me, that I know this as absolute fact.


To bring it down to simplicity for you - an advisor advises. They give advice only. They would have been advised on reasons for disclosing, as well as reasons against. The decision belonged to the winning couple.

It believe it isn't a lot. To me, I do not regard it as enough to be life changing. Nowhere near close enough to be life changing in the way some people may think.
