Or how long it takes to recognise a member has gone offline. So if you leave a page of about 6 seconds will it recognise you have gone offline in those 6 seconds before you come back on.

Its 15 minutes before it auto logs you out

Interesting point!

Doogle 24-07-2011 02:00 PM

I never log out so it probably says I'm always on? :suspect:

Pyramid* 24-07-2011 02:06 PM

I suspect that despite being logged on: once the system recognises that that member has not been 'active', it may therefore adjust accordingly?

Doogle 24-07-2011 02:09 PM

Ah true and then when I come back on it just recognises I'm active so says I'm online

It's interesting the figures but I think people often look in on these sites out of curiosity, to see what people are saying and also to get information on certain topics, such as BB etc.

Oh totally - I agree.

It's the fact that they are not enticed into actually joining / participating - that's the bit that I'm zooming in on.

The site isn't exactly swamped with new members registering - ie: it's been seen as good for 'viewing' only. Is that possibly because of the way the forum is currently, what it covers, how it's covered, etc that it draws in less new members and more lurkers?

I agree with you, I know I looked at this forum and Digital spy last year when BB was on, but then decided to join this one after a week or so.

It does make you think what may be needed to have them take that step to join though and then be able to make comments too.

Vicky. 24-07-2011 04:55 PM

A lot of the lurkers are googlebots/crawlers.

The rest are people who are googling dirty things :suspect:

OMFG @ Lewis' new record!!! haven't played for months and now I won't even bother..

Zippy 24-07-2011 05:08 PM
